If you have just got this phone...i suggest you to check out www.then82blog.com
As for wallpapers/themes
do a google for Pizero, I always have found his themes to be good. Alternatively any theme that works for a N95 or any Nseries phone should work on it. (do confirm it still!)
For apps and games Please go to www.symbian-guru.com... they have a store where you can buy apps. There are many recommended apps, and list is long, it all depends on what is important to you. I suggest you browse a few articles on Symbian-guru.com.
The N82 easily accepts an 8GB Micro SDHC card.
The only reason why i said its better to buy apps was because some good apps are supposed to be paid fo, eg Quickoffice, etc. But before buying have look at the various blogs.... WOMworld.com would give you the entire list. And Map1978 you are right MOSH is also there.
As for freeware the list is reallly endless... we could give him a huge list, which is why its better he goes through the blogs...
This is my first Nokia and I have a few startup questions.
I just got an N82 and installed the Nokia software on my computer. I'm wondering if there is anything on the CD that I shouldn't have installed or should know before connecting my phone to my PC?

I also just got the phone. I'm trying to figure out how to use the GPS without consuming any data packets? Is it even possible to run the Maps without using Data?

go to tools--> settings--->general----> positioning----> positioning methods
turn off assisted gps and network based.
only leave integrated GPS
removing all your access points doesn't solve that problem. lol i ended up with 25 bux of network charges cause i made that mistake .

Thanks guys.
you should install nokia pc suite from the cd. it makes installing apps super easy, one click. i dont use pc suite for much else other than installing 3rd party apps from my laptop.
for the new users, my advice is stay up on all the symbian blogs. i have daily reading that i do to keep up on all the news, apps and just stuff in the industry. i read symbian-guru, allaboutsymbian, hofo, etc. those are my main ones. and allaboutsymbian has awesome weekly video podcasts that i watch int he podcasting app on my phone. plus they have weekly audio podcasts. that's my advice.

White Comet,
Have you loaded any maps to your phone, especially the one for your location, using Nokia Map Loader? Download and install this program on your PC, and then use it to load maps of specific regions to your phone.
Depending on the Settings for Maps, when you start the app it will ask if you want to Go Online. If you select No, and you have deselected Assisted GPS as described by LawmaN, then it shouldn't use any data, but may take longer to lock on to your position, especially the first time you try or if you have moved a significant distance from your last lock position. You should be outside with as clear of a view of the sky as possible to get the quickest lock.
You can set the various options for Maps by going to Options>Tools>Settings.
tncc01 is right.
firstly load the map you want. The PC Suite has the the map loader app whic loads the maps.
then once the maps have been loaded go to the setting option and make the changes given above.
Also pay heed to what tncc01 has said about being out in the open to get a lock. The first time you use this app on the phone it will take time to get a lock on to your co-ordinates so be patient.
