*New P2K05 Compliant Seem Editor Released*
Hi Folks!
I have been hinting around at this for a long time now that null1281 has been working on a new seem editor and he has finally agreed to release it. He had hoped to be able to do more work on it to improve and debug it further but has found himself overwhelmed at work and will have no time to devote to it for the foreseeable future.
He has asked me to release it and help explain it's function and use to the community.
I will state unequivocally that while I consulted with him on it's design and function over the several months of it's creation, and helped beta test the app, all of the credit for this goes to null himself, who did all of the actual research and coding.
Other beta testers include GoldMembr, Mark_Venture, aixelsyd and V3~157.
Null has included a README that gives a good overview and anyone familiar with the P2K Seem EditorSD that has been one of our standard and most valuable software tools since the beginning of CDMA Moto hacking will find the interface immediately familiar and largely transparent.
You will also immediately notice many significant enhancements in the basic layout and default information about the connected phone provided in the GUI.
These include the model, ESN/pESN/MEID(hex), software version, flex version, SPC, carrier, current mode status as well as seem ID, record and byte length and a dropdown menu for custom functions.csv files to be used on the fly.
All of these enhancements and others make this an extremely valuable and simple to use tool for working with newer P2K05 compliant phones and allows us to perform all of the seem editing functions required for practically everything we do here with the ease and confidence to which we had become accustomed with superd****'s classic tool, with all of the phones no longer supported by the original P2K interface.
This is a stand alone application that needs no other P2K helper apps to load the Motorola USB Composite device interfaces. It does require a recent set of MotoDev drivers and the .NET 2.0 framework installed on your system.
Null is a very sharp guy and did a really beautiful job on this but there are still some bugs and it was intended to be backwards compatible with all P2K phones but, so far, has only been proven to work with V3m and later 6500 and 6550 chipset phones, and specifically has been shown not to work with the e815 and V3c.
As he says in the README, it needs to be tested on a broad variety of systems and phones and a data base of feedback from clearly documented reports will be one of the benefits of releasing it publicly. He has provided an email address for all feedback about the editor.
Hopefully an active discussion in this thread will provide a great deal of valuable feedback as well as we all get the chance to use it and explore it's possibilities. The fact that it's author is an active member of the HoFo Moto community is a real boon to us as I know he is eager to hear creative ideas about it's function a see users start to produce custom functions.csv files that can be used for specific phones or even custom conversion packages with more specific edits included, making guides much easier to both create and follow with success and consistency.
All of this will be very useful in the ongoing development of the tool, even if he is unable to put much time into it for a while.
There are a number of issues about it's function that we can discuss at length in this thread, as he has stated in the README, regarding the protected seems that will only pull and write at their complete length, rather than the specified truncated length.
Nonetheless, I think you'll all find this will quickly become one of our most valuable and versatile tools in our arsenal of software for Motorola hacking and modding.
So, I'll be first in line to say thanks to null1281 for all of his hard work and let you folks have at it.
so far this seems to work with my v9m verizon f/w pars_01.31.00, k1m verizon f/w 24.1_01.19.0A, w755 verizon f/w COOL01_00.30.08P and my v3m vivo f/w NCR_01.18.00R, but not my v3m verizon f/w NEWC_01.05.0A. a quick look in my device manager says the phone is suspended but the program will not find any of the phone info nor pull a seem from the phone. i'm running a windows xp sp3 desktop w/ .NETframework 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 installed. i'd like to thank the creator. i think he done a wonderful job. all the features look great. and i hope whatever troubles that have caused him to abandon his work on this are soon over.

I'll be third in line to say thanks to null1281 for all of his hard work and for also letting me be in on beta testing it. Works great as mentioned so far.
I'll add I have tested on my Maxx Ve also and it work great with it, along with the my Telus v9m that I updated with the leaked upgrade flash.
@kbman; When we are talking feedback how specific would he like details? Obviously the phone type and what firmware it is running. I'm assuming it would also be important to know what Moto driver set is being used and how it works. I'm more questioning the system setup detail. We just talking OS and software stuff, or specifically the hardware setup of the comp. Reason being is I have tested this on my 2 laptops the one that is the dual boot (xp w/sp2 & Vista), and another older Dell Lattitude D600. It's also been tested on my 3 custom built desktops that all have different hardware setups. ANy input would be great.

Just spoke with him and he confirmed my thoughts that more is better as far as detailed feedback goes. He is trying to figure out why the editor does not seem to work in some cases(Vista 64bit), whereas MoST does, despite the fact that they are based on the same p2kapi.dll.

Coolio, thx for the reply bud. Didn't want him to get slammed with all sorts of info that would be unneeded seeing as he's pretty busy atm. It would just add more work him that it doesn't sound like he needs atm.

Has anyone tried to turn on Vib THEN Ring on a Verizon V9m? Do these seem edits work?
2742;"0001";"7B";"3";"Vib Then Ring option Part 1 (use with Bit 4 on)";"off";"on"
2742;"0001";"7B";"4";"Vib Then Ring option Part 2 (use with Bit 3 off)";"on";"off"
This is really nice and easy to use, and faster than needing helper apps. I like the status bar and the other connection and phone information. It works great on my V9m. I guess the p2kseem.exe program is finally obsolete. Thanks, Null and kb.

Yes, the information in the GUI is great. On the other forum I posted this app, the single most asked question is how to find the SPC on any given handset, having that right in the GUI will save me a great deal of time and energy in the future...
