GPS now works with BB Maps on the Pearl/Curve

Title says it all, folks. I just got a satellite fix with my Pearl. I'd assume it will work on the Curve as well.

Hell Yes!!!

Thanks for pointing this out, faxmaster.

No go with Live Search. I don't think it works with Google Maps, either.

I can't get a fix when using Google Maps, either (even when leaving BB maps open). The camera also doesn't get a fix.

Have you tried it outside yet?

With how fast the fix is, it looks like BB Maps is using assisted GPS.

We may need to get a clear shot at the sky for Google Maps, if it can't use aGPS.

Took me about 45 seconds to get a fix with my Curve in BB Maps.
Although, I am in a city and it is cloudy/drizzling out.

About 30 seconds in to it, after I went down 18 floors, out in the cold and rain and I am standing there like a tool with my BB in my hand... I was like "I really hope this isn't a joke"

BB Maps had a lock, but Google Maps seems to be still 800+ meters. It says GPS temporarily unavail.

Yep, outdoors it took about 15-20 seconds. Eleven satellites.

It seems like the first fix takes a little more time than the following fixes.

I was thinking the same thing, though. I saw faxmaster's post about the GPS working with BB Maps and I thought, "ya right... like hell".

I really never thought this day would come. At this point, I really have no complaints about my phone.

Sweet. I hope Google Maps gets an update that supports aGPS for these phones, in the future. However, I'm hardly in a position to complain. At this point, I couldn't be happier with the situation.

Sounds like it. You'll need a clear view of the sky, like a stand alone GPS.

Google Maps will not work with GPS even if the GPS on the Pearl and Curve has been unlocked because the "My Location" feature in Google Maps is still a Beta. It does not recognize the internal GPS in the phone.

You can stop trying to get Google Maps to work with GPS until that feature is finalized by Google.

BB Maps will work if the GPS has been unlocked. There are several other BB applications which will also work fine.
