I just had someone "in the know" let me know that T-Mobile is doing away with the $18 upgrade fee. I do not know if this is permanent or if it's only temporary for the holidays but...
Just wanted to pass that along.

Great to know. Every dollar saved helps.
I just wonder? Carriers use these fees to offset operational costs and keep themselves in the black. Hope this doesn't come at the cost of lower quality support all the way around.

Nice. I upgrade at Sam's Club where the $18 upgrade fee was waived but still, this is good to know. I'm thinking about buying another Curve and tossing it on eBay. It's only $144 with a free $50 gift card with a one year renewal..

The info I have received is that the "Fee Waiver" is from December 17th to December 31st. Also in January they will have an activation fee waiver promotion.

Thanks again Jeffro for the good news.
Oh puhleez! It's just another excuse to nickel and dime their subscribers. You don't seriously think that the carriers can't pay their utility bills and buy paper for the Xerox machine unless they charge these silly fees?
