I've read somewhere that the screen protector can't cover the light sensor or it will cause problems. On ebay, there are some of the cheapie ones from Hong Kong (3 for $5 or whatever) that look like they just cut off the top right part. Looks lame but I guess would work. Are these any good though or should I use something better like a Clarivue or Invisible Shield? Do the Clarivue and Invisible Shield have the cut outs for the camera and the light sensor? What have people tried? Thanks.
I ordered the cheapo ($3.99 w/ free shipping) screen protectors and it works fine. it has the rightside lopped off but its not that noticable. Item#250349084945 from ebay. took 14 days to arrive but it's an exact fit. I tried to cut my own from Fellowes Universal and since that didnt work, I tried the iphone screen protectors. After cutting it to shape also, it failed to fit.
Any version for the 5800 that uses 3M PET film will work fine since it's scratch resistant and composed of silicone.

I ordered the full body coverage from Invisible Shield. There is not a cut-out for the proximity sensor, but there is one for the front camera/flash. I had to use a razor blade and cut a chunk of the top right for the proximity sensor. I am extremely satisfied with the screen protector and wish I had ordered just that. It is such a pain in the a** to apply the film on the sides of the phone.
I recommended a friend get Clarivue based on web accounts of it being "as good" as Martin Fields at half the price. When it came it just reminded me of the adage "you get what you pay for" because it really wasn't close to Martin Fields IMHO.
Before that he tried Invisible Shield and he was so disgusted with that orange peel finish (understandably) that he wanted something else within 2 days.
I learned my lesson at his cost, I will stick to Martin Fields. Maybe I'm a screen protector snob.

Well, I'll vote for Clarivue. I have two sets on the way for the 5800 (both probably for the NAM version). For what you get, it's an excellent screen protector that comes with all the tools necessary to apply it correctly and they include a spare if you mess up. I can't justify spending over $10 on a single piece of plastic to protect the screen.
All that said, I'm not convinced the 5800XM needs a screen protector. These screens were meant to be touched and prodded. I can see tons of tiny scratches in the top layer in the sunlight if I look hard enough, but they're unnoticeable 98% of the time. Not bothering me at all.

Personally have tried a lot of screen protectors like Martin Field and Clarivue, but my favroite is boxwave anti-glare.....but I'm with JB and will probably not get a screen protector.
I'm not a big fan of screen protectors but I get annoyed with little scratches. Having not used Nokias before, how resilient are their screens normally? I always put my phone in my pocket but never with anyone else in there with it. Will the screen stand up to that and not have a bunch of scratches that are noticeable?

I never use screen or body protectors. Phones this day and age are designed to take abuse without looking beat up. I don't baby my phones, but I don't throw them around for no reason either. They go in my jeans pocket with any headphones I may be carrying. I try not to put them in with keys or coins, but it happens sometimes. When I wipe my phones down before selling them, they could pass for new because they have few noticeable scratches. So yeah, nokia phones don't need screen protectors, but if it makes you feel better, go ahead and apply a protector.
I don't like screen protectors and I'm guessing it makes the touch less sensitive. I'm already not too thrilled about about the sensitivity (coming from an iPhone). I'm leaning towards not getting one. So for the Nokia veterans here, you guys think Nokia screens are pretty sturdy? I baby my phones, always in the left pocket and nothing else in there, so you guys think it'll stay nice and clean without anything noticeable? Thanks.

On any other phone, I'd have ordered a pair of Clarivues immediately after (and sometimes before) buying the phone. They actually make the screen look nicer if you apply them correctly and seem to add value if you're going to turn around and sell it. Even if you don't, the screens are build to be very durable and take a lot of abuse before noticeable scratches form.
Either way, I'd skip it for the 5800XM to avoid loss in sensitivity.
