Good and Bad News from Page Plus

Official : Policy Changes Effective 10/19/09

Effective October 19th, 2009 the following policy changes will take effect:

1. The amount credited on an activation is changing from $12.00 to $6.00.

2. A $6.00 credit will be added to the account on a port-in.

3. The $10.00 minimum balance required on an ESN change will no longer be required.

4. The $10.00 minimum balance required on an MDN change will no longer be required.

The major impact of these changes will be to help reduce confusion, streamline and simplify these processes for the dealer, and reduce the amount of call volume to our customer service center regarding these issues.
These changes will take effect 10/19/09 and will remain in effect until the end of the year, at which time the policies will be re-evaluated in order to identify the best long-term solution to this confusing customer service issue.
Thank you for your continued support of Page Plus Cellular.

where's the bad news? only getting $6.00 instead of $12.00 when you open a new account? free esn changes makes up for that.

Agreed. And still, thanks for the $6 anyway. Gives new consumers a chance to still try it out. And even if the new consumer adds another $10 I still think they'll have enuf leeway to give it a test ride.

I would rather be able to change my phone for free than worry about a one time credit.

The $12 credit was very nice for checking for network coverage prior to porting a number over. In both cases that I've done this, we only needed $6 of that, so I guess this is ok, if not a bit borderline.

The last phone I ported, when I was talking to the CSR that finally got it to work, I asked her if I could provide some feedback. She said, "I know, the wait and hold times are horrible". I told her it wasn't that, but rather a small credit upon porting would be nice so a person could make that initial activation call without having to add a card right off the bat. She said she would pass that along up the chain in the next meeting.

I doubt it was me asking that provoked this change, but I'm happy to see it none the less. It seems like a reasonable compromise to me.

Regards,

Hans

one good thing for port ins, now they get $6 too.
no more hassle when we change phones or change numbers. hopefully it is a success because i think it will be re-evaluated by the end of the year.

A lot of confusion was created when they started the $10 account balance for ESN or Phone # changes.
Most people didnt understand that the $10 account minimum balance was just a requirement to "allow" the change to be done. Some dealers charged for the change, but a different amount than the $10. Some dealers dont charge anything for these changes.
It should clear up some confusion now.

Too bad they are dropping the $12 credit to $6 now, as that was a good start point for most customers to get going for a week, before they needed to buy a new card.

It will now be 50 free min of airtime or 75 texts free.

I assume the $6 port-in credit only applies to a new account - not to an existing account?

This is a "temporary" change. They are trying to reduce the call volume to there customer service center.

To be honest with you guys this could be an issue though. Heres why:
I start a new account with a new phone and get $6 dollars credit... When I am up with the $6 dollars I can do an ESN change to another phone which now clears up my phone... Now that my phone is clear I can do a new activation and get the $6 dollars back. Seems like there will be a lot of ESN changes

In the past only one activation credit was given to a particular ESN number.

Ive switched ESN's before and got the credit, not sure if this was changed or not but that would be the smartest thing for them to do.

i do not see this as a good thing especially the $10 to $6 activation charge it will make it harder to convince people to activate with PP.

ex. yes when you sign up with PP you get 50 free minutes or yes when you sign up with PP you get 100 free minutes

hell that is what sold me on trying out PP, people will only see the minutes since they do not know how good the service is since they never had it

there reason for the change
The major impact of these changes will be to help reduce confusion, streamline and simplify these processes for the dealer, and reduce the amount of call volume to our customer service center regarding these issues.

i am confused now, here is a rule to not confuse people do not change anything case in point new activation

Here my thoughts

new activation 12.00 /100
Port in 6.00 / 50
ESN change 0.00
MDN change 0.00

for all other things there is master card

PP never ever charged for an ESN/ number change. All they asked was to have a minimum of $10 on the customers acct. so if the balance on the acct was $10 or more, the esn change went thru and if the balance on the acct was less than $10 then they asked simply to add $10 to the account and THIS WAS NOT A CHARGE TO THE ACCOUNT.
I am glad pp made such changes; obviously there are still people that are confused about this.

Also, PP lines were not busy when they were giving 100 minutes, pp lines are busy now because of he UTNT, so do not tell me that people are signing up because of the 100 minutes....who cares if i get 50 minutes or a 100 minutes added to my unlimited plan.......because Unlimited + 50 or + 100 = the same.....UNLIMITED
