It appears that many of you are having problems with the new MPx rom which has circulated, including lockups, battery charging issues, etc. For others, things seem to be working just fine. Is it simply a matter of which phone you have (850 vs 900)?
I've started this new thread in the hope that we might be able to narrow down what is causing these problems. Please post specifics here as to your individual setup (e.g. 850, 900, pre-prod; GSM module, etc.) and the precise problem(s) you are experiencing, if any. If you are not having any issues, make sure to let us know as well so this thread doesn't become skewed one way other another.
Thank you to everyone for helping out on this issue, and for providing such great information and advcie on this device over the past few months.

P.S. I've started this in a new thread because the other one has gotten so unweidly now, and because I've gotten tired of looking at that typo in the Subject line. Also, I haven't had actually had time to load the new rom myself yet (I just finally upgraded to the Feb one about two weeks ago) and I'm hoping the information garnered here will help me to decide whether it iis safe to take the plunge.

Just share my experience on the new ROM:
I have flashed the new March ROM to my MPX and the GSM that i flashed is the "GSM other" as stated by OnImpulse. More than five days now, I do not have any problems on my phone . My MPX now is very stable with very much improved battery life. I think it almost fixed all the previous bugs in this phone.
Anyway I am using 900Mhz system and i think the March ROM is more for 900 instead of 850.
Posting from my MPx over GPRS as abroad right now.
Experience is same as kohkk98 although I upgraded all 3 modules to March level - am having zero issues with the GSM module! I am using the Freemem app from the March ROM and simply kill Messaging after use - I only use it for SMS anyway as use WebIS Mail for email.
I do see one difference; less out of memory warnings - above all not from Phone app. Pretty sure this had a memory leak in previous versions which would explain the disappearance of ram over time.
I'm in the process off changing my GSM to 944c19 to see if I will continue to get the system shutdowns and stuff like that. If I continue to get hangups and shutdowns then I will disable freemem and see if this helps. I never had a battery issue with new March rom using GSM 18. I think I will need at least a day to find out if there are any changes after using the GSM944c19. By the way how do I know what model MPx I have if its the 850 or 900 or preproduction model??? Help.....
I tried to just uncheck the boxes in Freemem and reboot as Aswad said in the other threads(taking place in the other discussion group) but after reboot the checkmark came back. I had to use the active sync explore window or the file explorer on the phone and go into the windows\startup directory and manually delete the mb.exe file then reboot. After that freemem was disable(boxes remained unchk after that). The problem is the amount of memory I now have is reduced to 8-9MB instead of 11MB that I had since installing new ROM. What do you guys think???
Quick note.....the reason I disable freemem is because my phone still had an automatic shutdown after installing that GSM944c19 earlier today. I'm not sure why, I just had the new GSM now for a couple hours. I will see what happens tomorow.
Another quick note...... I have the extended life battery (serial number SNN5751A) so I have not experience any decrease in power...my battery has actually lasted longer with each ROM release. By the way my phone band is unknown,(850,900,unknown MHz), preproduction I think.

To disable the freemem is; delete mb.ink or mb.exe from startup folder.
One way to know if your MPx is pre-product is by looking the keyboard. The pre-pro have two tone colour for each tack; the upper part alpa without background dark colour wheareas the other with blue background colour.
Please refer to howard preview regarding this one.
My Mpx is still locking up and shutting down. By the way I have the later version of the pre prod. models...most likely 850Mhz. Did you guys realize that the mb.exe file we've been playing with so far actually exist in the windows folder itself and not just in the startup menu???
I think this could be a key discovery because I keep on hearing some people saying that they deleted it from startup menu, they unchked all the boxes and so on but the file keeps on coming back. I think we need to delete the actually file in the windows root directory because the one in the startup is just a link, the one in the windows directory is the actual file. I deleted mine just now and also deleted the link then copy the original file into the windows and windows\startup directory. Now I will wait patiently to see what happens.
I managed to flash all the (March) three components and all seem ok except the similar issue on the GSM signal. Not geeting good signal most of the time. Saw the 'GSM Calibration' function in the EBoot menu - anyone know how to use this function? Can it improve the issued mentioned?
Anyone know what is the EngineeringMode.exe, Poutlook.exe, Run.exe, SC.exe and TimeWizard.exe do? It is always on the startup program - taking up memory running on the background. Which one can be disabled?
BTW, the bluetooth now even have ringing tone on incoming call on my bluetooth device (SonyE/// HBH 65) which I have no ringing tone on my device with the provious ROM (Nov).

Whis version of the device do you have? Who is your GSM provider?

Abstract
With my MPx, and 2 weeks test try to find what caused the freezing and auto-off in my MPx.
Methods
Using MPx, Mar 21 ROM, GSM 900, Normal batt, Extended batt and my sleeping hour.
For three day using normal batt I did not experience any auto-off and the freezing problem.
With ext batt I was experince 5 times the auto-off and 3 time freezing in one day. This finding confirmed when for five days more the problem seem appears almost like the first one.
my conclusion is the freezing (hang in computer jargon) and the auto-off problem caused by extended batt.
I have tried various combinations of the GSM upgrade that came with the March 21st. upgrade and I couldn't get the MPx to work right. I had problems with battery charging, wireless connections, finding networks for GSM mode, etc. I ended up going back to the Feb.8th upgrade I bought through eBay. My original ROM version was dated Nov, 2004
The Feb. 8th upgrades work good so far but I wish I had never messed around with these upgrades. I don't have a copy of my original Nov.2004 ROM so I'll have to stay with the Feb. 8th, 2005 for now until something newer comes along that will eventually work.
I have three Roms, Nov, Feb and March just in case anybody need those. I have done my testing and so far no idea why phone shuts down. I deleted mb.exe, I tried not using freemem...everything...thinking of going back to feb 5 ROM.
