I just saw the new HTC Wizard and Galaxy!!

I just saw the New HTC Galaxy and wizard to replace the Magician.
Got a hirizontal slide out keyboard. Same size as Magician. Black in colour. with 128mb ram, Wifi built in. Same size as Jam. With a 2.1mb camera (undecided maybe 1.2). Just saw the pictures, but it looks awesome. (I think it also had edge). I am a bit mixed up between the galacy and wizard. The one looks very similar to the Jam current model with no keyboard but the other is black with keyboard.
!! anyone got any more info...... ????

I cannot disclose that. Although it wasnt online. It was through a business meeting. I can tell you the release date for the i-mate versions was Jan 2006, they say the mda versions will be out 1 month before. ie 2005 dec.

So you saw two devices....

Galaxy and Wizard? Both with the exact same features (built in Wifi, 128 MB RAM, 2.1 or 1.2 MP camera, black housing) except one had a slide out keyboard and one didn't?

Yes I saw 2 devices, Both same size as current Jam. The one i remember clearly being the black one with fold out keyboard. Had 1.2/2.1 camera (oh i remember with flash) (I assume they are not sure). I remember it having an 800mhz processor though. I also think it used mini sd. And on this point I stand to be corrected because there were quite a few devices, but I think it had edge also.

Anyone know whether these are tri-band or quad-band (850/900/1800/1900)?

Regards,

Well If this is true... I won't be buying the universal at all....
Although it is an awesome device... But the size is really big.. and I'm really comfortable with the size of my JAM.....
128 MB RAM and WiFi
It got to be something Big....

cheers

That's all pretty cool stuff. Keep in mind these are WM 5.0 devices, which makes it doubtful they have 128 MB of RAM. It's more likely that they will have 128 MB of ROM. Remember WM5.0 uses persistent storage (ROM).

The dates all seem pretty sensible as well.

Your vague info is better than anyone else's.

Yeah ... in addition to knowing that more memory, built-in wifi, and a keyboard option are on the way, it lets us know that the first-place status of our current Magician will likely hold until January 2006.

im sorry, but could you elaborate on what persistent storage is? does the rom act as ram?

more companies are focusing on rom so that the stuff that is stored there won't be lost when there's no power. on ram, you'd lose everything without power to supply the ram.

All Windows Mobile 5.0 devices will use "Persistent Storage" What this means is that everything will be in ROM, including the OS, all data, and user installed applications as well. RAM will be used entirely for running programs, much like a desktop system that stores everything on the hardrive and uses RAM to run the programs. This means that all data will survive a hard reset, or loss of power.
