V710: 8700_02.03.00R Released!

I have the flash file. It can be found here.

I haven't flashed it to my phone yet but while at Verizon, a rep flashed theirs.

Off the top here's what I noticed:

While device is set to microSD, the Move/Copy options for the Sounds menu are once again missing.

The menu system seems a lot faster. Everything was smooth. I compared it to mine (with 40.0R) and it went through everything faster.

When replying to a text message, RE: is gone from the subject line.

What exactly does this new firmware do? Does it give the V710 skins like the E815? Does it improve picture quality? Does it allow the external screen to show the internal wallpaper? does it place the time screen saver on the outside screen?

I flashed my v710 with this new firmware.
I don't see anything different.
It is too dark for a pic, but indoor pics still look like crap ... lol
... and, no, there is still no OBEX profile

I compared seem 41a with an original 1.40.0R seem 41a.
There are 2 differences:
1.40.0R: Offset 6C has bits 0-7 enabled (FF hex)
2.30.00R: Offset 6C has bits 1-7 enabled (FE hex)

1.40.0R: Offset 72 has bits 3,4,5,6 enabled (78 hex)
2.30.00R: Offset 72 has bits 3,4,6 enabled (58 hex)

I did these four seem edits, but I haven't tried MPT multimedia studio over Bluetooth, nor have I tried the TF move/copy - but I assume they work:
Offset 75 bit 5 - to re-enable TF move/copy option for 1.40.0R V710 and any E815
Offset 6a bit 0 - allows Bluetooth or USB file transfer in MPT for 1.40.0R V710, and also enables OBEX for the E815
Offset 62 bit 5 - shows the Pix Message Setup > Server Info menu, allowing alternate Pic Message server
Offset 6A bit 3 - Enables the Menu: Security > Data Connection - you shouldn't need this, but it has the 1XRTT Settings and Service Type (QNC, Packet, Auto)

Should I assume that you need to do all the seem editing and everything over again if you get the software update.

Are the ID3 tags in the MP3 player fixed, and does it still stall on long playlists, and/or have it hide on flip close?

It doesn't automatically "hide" when you close the flip, you still have to click "hide" first, or it simply turns off the mp3 player - if that's what you are asking.

I don't use my V710/E815 as an mp3 player, so I don't know about stalling on playlists.
I imagine the mp3 player is the same, but if you have an mp3 that doesn't play on your V710 because of the ID3 tags, then I'd be happy to try it on my V710 with 2.30.00R on it. I've made some mp3 ringtones for my V710/E815, but that's about it - and they always worked without doing anything special, so I don't have any first-hand experience with the ID3 tag issues I'm always reading about.

I'm wondering where the list of changes is for this firmware ... who's got the readme.txt?

Can someone check for yournumber@dun.vzw3g.com vs. yournumber@vzw3g.com like the VX8100 V4 update or is this not going to be an issue for us?

No skins. Picture quality is about the same. Still has the same exteral backgrounds, tied to the Color Style. No E815-like outer clock.

Still trying to figure out what the new version does.. lol.
