I did get some soft conformation that this will be carried for Cingular. This phone is the update of the one and only RAZR. Sporting a 1.3MP camera, iTunes, microSD memory, and a larger external screen. Should be out before the holidays. Please discuss sighting and impressions here.

I'm really curious as to what the price point is gonna be on this thing. hopefully it's nothing like the first one. I'd get one if it didn't have ITunes. Just a regular MP3 player would have been better. Just my opinion.

i really hope this phone comes out this month.. but does anyone know what's the amount of songs you can put on the phone? like will the songs be saved to the microSD?
Since the phone uses ITunes (just like the ROKR), I would assume that the same limitations would be in place (100 song limit) But this phone to me is just a whole lot cooler to look at than that horrible eyesore of an E1.
But I hate ITunes with a passion. If there's a way to put a standard MP3 player on there instead of iTunes, i'll do it via a flash, flex or monster pack.
I wonder if the announcement of this phone will drop the price of the RAZR. The i cools sweet, but I don't need a memory card slot.
Walmart should be oferring the Razr V3 for $88 shortly. Price-drops will occur mostly everywhere else throughout the holiday season.
You can pretty much bet that the V3i will have the same 100 song iTunes limitation. Anything else is a threat to iPod sales. It will also have a standardized Motorola mp3 player, however, so your non-iTunes songs are limited only by the size of your microSD card.

Is it really necessary to limit iTunes to 100? With the poor integration of the phone based iTunes, I highly doubt a phone with iTunes will eat into iPods market.

The integration will certainly improve. Can't base future iTunes phones on the ROKR, the ROKR itself was just a piece of ****. It should function better in the V3i thanks to a faster processor and other software tweaks. It will improve again when Motorola starts using the new Linux/JAVA UI in 2006.
iTunes songs being proprietary to iPods is apart of that DAP's success. They're a team, and iTunes isn't the big picture as Apple is just using it to push iPods. If Apple allowed the V3i to play an unlimited amount of iTunes songs and a person who buys this Razr was also thinking about buying an iPod, they now have one less reason to consider it (especially with 1-2gb microSD cards on the horizon). Not everybody appreciates the functionality of the iPod-iTunes combo, there would be plenty of V3i owners who couldn't give a crap as long as they can hear the songs.
Motorola from day one wanted to put iTunes in as many of their phones as they could, it was never going to just be the ROKR E1, ROKR E2, etc. While it would've been less of a threat with those handsets, imagine the damage the first RAZR could've done if it had iTunes with no limitation and TransFlash: over 12 million people who now have much less of a reason to buy an iPod. What if the V3i then sold another 12 million? What about the SLVR? You may not see the ROKR as a threat, but Apple was looking well into the future and as sales of these handsets start piling up, they further penetrate the protective ring around iPod and iTunes.
