AllTel RAZR V3c activated on VZW /w pics

This morning I went to the local alltel store and bought a v3c at retail price for $393 out the door. It took some hacking, but it is now active on the VZW network. Currently GIN, PIX messaging, and VCast are the only things that do not work. I don't use those services anyway, but I will get them running later with Sonic McTails help. So it can be done. I will write a HOW TO up in a few days. Basically it requires manual NAM setup, copy a fairly recent prl to the phone, then *228 opt 1. If you don't want the alltel eri, then you need to copy a recent VZW that to the phone as well.

This is a completely unbranded phone out of the box, less a few animated gifs which I have changed. In the pictures below you will see my e815, tmobile razr v3, Alltel V3c activated on VZW, all of them completely unbrannded except for any etching or "stickers"

I also have 2 video's of the operations if someone would host them.

I'll be happy to answer questions on this thread.

How is the call quality? Tell us in a nutshell, is it worth it?

YES.

Is that in a nutshell?

If you get one that can be hacked. I am not sure what will come of the VZW verzion, it may suck if it does not have the ability to do everything this one does. The v3 itself have been out for a long time in "tech" time. There are TONs and TONS of hacks for them, and they will all work on a standard UI, unlocked BT phone. dunno about the VZW one though.

The center button inside of the directional pad. Pressing it down is the menu button.

Is the handset itself any thicker than the original V3, or does the extra .5mm only come from that bulge surrounding the camera lens?

There is virtually no thickness difference. The cam probably does account for the .5mm cause on the original it is flush, it is ever so slightly raised on the v3c. Side by side, it's even hard for the naked eye to see the thinkness difference.

Is the UI skinnable? If so, how many skins came pre-loaded?

Yes it is skinable. The stardard moto ui, just like the e815.

Moto, Scarlet, and Techno - the usual standards.

It is a little different from the e815 due the the lack of a menu key, so my e815 skins i use don't look right in a few spots I need to edit them so I am using the stock moto ui with the eri and date edited out.

Why would many be jealous? The Razr is a 2 year old inferior design. I mean come on, no TF? Not to mention it's gonna cost like $900 dollars! I hear Verizon won't offer insurance, either, cause the insurance company said it breaks too easily!! Why get that when I can just buy the Cingular version for so much less? Get the E815, it's a much better phone. Why get something everyone else already has?
