N70 will only allow "Nokia tune" as ringtone.

Hiya,
I am getting quite wound up about this.

Simply the n70 will not allow me to choose my own ringtone.

I have tried selecting from both profiles and the gallery, even making a new profile with a different ringtone.

It either just ignores me completely and keep the nokia tune, or does not ring AT ALL.

I have spent the past hour and a half on the phone to orange, and we went through all the different ways of changing it and none of them worked...has anyone else had this problem - even better, has anyone fixed it????

has anyone had a fw upgrade, and has this helped?

That's what I'm thinking....but I have to wait for authorisation from orange tech support.

No i have tried it with numbers that are not stored in my phone at all, and it is the same problem.

I am going to get a f/w upgrade on Thursday and see if this helps.... (fingers crossed).

I asked if they would flash it to the generic firmware and he said it would break the phone..... (why do they insist on telling us bs all the time?)

There is now a patch on nokia's website. I have tried it, but it does not help with the nokia tune.

I am a bit dubious as it says that it may bring up a security notification, which nokia programmes shouldn't do... a rushed jobbie, maybe?

Well, I went to the service centre, and aparently, the firmware on my phone is not compatible with the equipment they have, so they would have to send it away for 10 days. They seemed suprised when I said no.

I tried to point out that it was christmas, and hence a piss poor time to be without a phone, and I will take it back later.

Did a hard reset which has sorted it.... let's just hope it doesn't happen again!

This has got to be the worst bug ever. I would go insane if I had to hear the 'nokia tune' everytime my phone rang.

Easily fixed with the patch. First thing I installed when I got my N70 and it works flawlessly.
