Ok so folks I got my SDA today, I just tried to download a wallpaper from the Tmobile site and it tells me that I have a message but it won't let me download the file.
So to make it short.. I called customer service and the rep was trying to tell me that I have to pay for some $20 extra a month fee to use the damn internet on this phone, so can anyone tell me if this is true?
The guy also told me that the SDA doesn't allow it's users to download ringtones and wallpaper from the Tmobile site, I find that one ridiculous but I still have to ask here. Lastly he said that we have basic WAP access but I still couldn't get onto the tmobile site.. I have alot of threads here to go over but until I find one I just had to ask these questions.
Btw, if I put the $4 or $5.99 a month TZones plan back on the SDA, does that mean that I will be able to use the internet explorer feature of the phone?
Wow what a ripoff, so yeah after searching the threads here I did the following below and now I have access to my WAP network... booo to the unknowing tmobile customer reps.
CORRECT TMobile GPRS/t-zones settings for Microsoft Smartphones

If the above settings work (and I'd be amazed if they do) then some one has found a work around.
But if they don't work then yes you do have to sign up for the 29.99 internet. Some customer get luck and they will get provisioned with the internet access without having to pay for and other aren't so lucky. The ones that aren't luck have to sign up for it to get the correct permissions on the back end of the network. And the settings on the phone do not determine this access.

In a word: Yes.
As long as you configure the proxy to go through a port other than port 80 for http, T-zones will work on the SDA or MDA. The Pocket Internet Explorer browser included with the SDA and MDA is capable of viewing WAP pages as well as regular web pages and both will generally work through the proxy on the T-zones plans.
T-mobile reps may tell you that T-zones doesn't work on your phone. Rather than argue with them, you can simply add it on yourself by going to your "My T-Mobile" portal and adding the package (you might need to change the phone shown on the page to something other than a "smart" phone, but you can change it back after you add T-zones)

The plan you're on does not affect the speed of your connection. It's possible that the proxy could slow you down a little, but since you're using the same proxy I'm using, I can tell you that it's plenty fast. If you aren't getting a fast EDGE connection on T-zones, it's extremely unlikely to be any better on a different data plan. Try it again from another physical location where your signal is good and strong as see if it's any better.
And in case you don't know, if you're using the stock ROM, there's no visual indication of whether or not you're getting GPRS or Enhanced-GPRS (EDGE). The only way to tell is to run a bandwidth test and if you score above 50kbps, you're in EDGE territory.

Yes, I'm using the exact same configuration (albeit on the MDA with the 2.17 ROM, rather than the SDA with the stock ROM) and I have personally tested as fast as 130k, but this definately varies depending on my location.
I haven't had any trouble with it at all. The first time I saw an MDA was a stores demo a couple weeks before it was released, I ran a test there and got 150kbps. I think tomorrow I'm going to see how I do from the same location. I seriously doubt there's any noticable speed difference through the proxy, but I'd like to prove it.

Yeah I agree, I did exactly as was stated and it worked the first time through. I to have given up on tmobile reps getting anything right, at least this one guy that I spoke to told me that I apparently knew more about the phone than any of the reps in the office did. I also tried to add the Tzones plan online but it blocked me from the doing so once I selected the sda as my phone, I could have changed it back to the razr and done it then but I simply called the rep back and had him add it for me.. a short time later and I was back online in no time.
