Now, soft-reset your device and that should do it. Cyberon's Voice Speed Dial is out of the picture. That is, until you hard reset, then it all comes back.

To get into Registry with Total Commander, simply click on the "double back slash" [\\....] (ignore the dots I entered here) at the top of the list, above Application Data to see the options

Or

in the area (command line) where you can enter text, simply type in three back slashes [\\\.....] (ignore the dots) to go directly to registry.

Receive Channels is really only useful for someone who travels a lot and/or roams (like I do). When you first get into an area - example, drive from New York to Canada, or fly from London to Lagos - once your phone connects to the system, the right information for that area is automatically sent to your phone as SMS, depending on what you have enabled: something like "welcome to whatever area, here's the information for hospitals, doctors, traffic, taxi info, etc". It also gives you default information like the Customer Service Number (like 611 or 411 or 311 or 222), Emergency Numbers (like whether it's 911 or 999 or 08, etc). Of course, it's carrier dependent, but the codes are standard. So, if a carrier has it enabled, you'll receive the info, otherwise, nothing happens.

oo, that's exciting! thanks for this wealthy list of pertinent info for the mda. i think people are finally getting over the novelty of the device and those who are serious about keeping it are finally having the opportunity to tweak the device to make it work best for them. there have been numerous threads dealing with maximizing mda potential, and i am grateful to you and everyone else who's been hard at work compiling and condensing vital tweaks.

Just thought I'd add something else, which I take for granted, but realize many people may not be aware of:

You can drop any .mp3 or .wav file on \Storage Card\My Documents\ and be able to use it for Ring Tones. In other words, you can save ring tones on your SD card (instead of your phone, thus saving valuable space) and still have them for ring tones. However, be aware these would only be available as Ring Tones, but not available for other notifications/notices like "Reminders" or "Alarms". These still need to be in default Windows folder.

Dropping .mp3 or .wav files on your SD card can be done via a PC (Windows Explorer via Active Synch) or via the phone using File Explorer, Total Commander, Resco Explorer, etc.

Registry Editing has to be done on the phone via a Registry Editor like the PHM RegEdit or Total Commander. Some are free apps (PHM RegEdit), some are not. I like PHM RegEdit because it gives you the option/ability to save your Registry before making any changes.

There are applications out there like Tweaks2K2.NET or xDA Developers Utility that package most (but NOT ALL) of these tweaks in an easy to use interface where you don't have to deal with making the necessary registry editing yourself, and thus save you the headache of potentially messing up your registry.

The Wireless Plugin allows you to add to the Today View a way to view your Wireless connections - Bluetooth, WiFi, GPRS - and their state, whether connected, disconnected, etc. It does not allow you to make any changes to these, just to be able to view them on the Today View.

For me, I actually added it, then removed it from the Today View but left the Plugin. This way, when I click on the Connection Icon on top, I'm able to see all my Wireless connections at once, and their state. I'm not in a location where I can include a Screen shot, as this would make it much easier to see and evaluate its usefulness. But you can try it, and if you don't want it, just disable it.
