Lightbulb 6265i: OBEX and more...

Folks,

Please try your best to S E A R C H when doing your homework! Members like me ( , Helmsley and TelecomZombie have been telling for weeks, if not months - from the prototype / early versions to the release version...

WE have tried it on both Bluetooth and IR with sending / getting "business card", pictures, music, video files among other GSM / CDMA handsets, Palm, PocketPC.

*What exactly OBEX is...

It is NOT a crime or stupid to get confused with techno jargon! So do not be shy to ask what exactly it is. Just please do not mix it up with other profiles like DUN, A2DP, AVRCP which seems not supported in 6265i.

*Copyright / DRM is in placed for assigning ringtones... http://207.210.82.131/showthread.ph...681#post7296681

keitaro2k1,

TELUS does not make use of AGPS / AFLT at all like Bell does! And, unlike those iDEN handsets from Motorola which really has a SiRF module inside to get the data from the constellation of birds up there to assist the location service, the 6265i along with many CDMA handsets would NOT run into the power-draining feature even if you allow the location info to be shared with the network all the time.

keitaro2k1,

The location-based service is done via IP and it has to be connected back and forth to a specialized server on the network side to do the calculation with the data gathered from the AGPS / AFLT components. Unfortunately, TELUS has yet to offer such access to the service. Those please read this FAQ at:

http://207.210.82.131/showthread.ph...366#post2126366
http://207.210.82.131/showthread.ph...286#post1833286
http://207.210.82.131/showthread.ph...592#post2126592

Bell has it with the value-added apps like MapMe. For the wireless e911, it is getting close to be commerically available. Bell has conduct trials last summer. However, it will NOT work if you force your TELUS handset to roam on Bell because the authentication measure will prevent non-Bell subscriber to access the location-based service.

So, any hack on the handset side would not do any good.
