Talking A930 (Set ups for ~ DUN, WAP, MP3, View Six Hidden Menu's)

Hey all want the most out of your Samsung a930
(Free Ring tones, play MP3s, edit pix, DUN, etc.)

Samsung a930 (Best things to do to your a930)

First ill talk about some basic sets up to get you started then a little more advance with all the hidden menu’s that’s right I found six hidden menu’s if you find anything else I didn’t mention here feel free to leave a reply

The Basic set ups I found
(Free Phone Book transfer & Back up, Editing Pix, Getting Free ring tones)

Steps to make a computer see your Samsung a930:

1.) Get the Samsung a930 phone and phone USB cable or use Bluetooth
2.) Download the basic drivers. The first driver you will need is so the computer can see your phone it’s the “Samsung MCCI Driver 4.24 WHQL” here’s a link to where you can download it, or just search for it and download it.

http://rapidshare.de/files/7553798/...tified.zip.html

3.) After downloading this driver, install the driver.
4.) Turn phone on after attaching it to USB cable which should be plugged into the computer (if CDMA modem should come up if not turn phone on and off again)

Steps up a DUN network and get MP3S on your Samsung a930:
This guide will show you how to install the a950 PST and how to enable certain things on your phone.
1. Start off by downloading the PST package, http://pub.undeadarmy.com/a950.zip.
2. Unzip this file to a temporary folder and then open the folder up.
3. You should see 3 things, a DLL folder, a PST folder, and a SamsungPST Preloaded Application for A950 v1.07 MOD and MP3.msi file.
4. Double click the SamsungPST Preloaded Application for A950 v1.07 MOD and MP3.msi file and follow any prompts to install the first part of the a950 package.
5. Open the DLL folder and double click on setup.exe, again follow any prompts to install the second part of the package.
6. Go back to the original folder and open up the PST folder, double click the setup.exe, and once again, follow the prompts.
7. Once all three are installed, you should have a 'Phone Flashing Applications' item in your Start Menu. Click the SamsungPSTLite icon inside there to load the PST.
8. Double click on the SCH-A950 in the right pane. The software will then load.
One of the best things you can do with this PST is enable MP3 playback on the VCAST Music version (YK.24).
1. Make sure your phone is connected to the computer with the USB cable and the drivers are installed.
2. Click the Setting button on the left. Click on Feature in the right pane and also put a checkmark in the box.
3. Click on 'Read From Phone' and wait for it to read the settings from the phone. When asked for the MSL code, type in 000000
4. Find the 'Hidden Menu' feature entry and from the dropdown box choose Enabled.
5. Click on 'Write To Phone' and wait for it to write the new settings. When asked for the MSL code, type in 000000
6. Your phone will reboot (if it turns off and doesn't turn back on, manually turn it back on)
7. Go to the menu, then Get it Now and then press 0. Type in your lock code (should be the last 4 digits of your phone number).
8. Go to MP3 Menu Item and select Enabled.
9. Your phone will reboot again
10. Go back to Get it Now, Get Tunes & Tones and there will be a 'My MP3s' item.
11. You will need to put the MP3 files in the 'MY_MP3S' folder on your transflash card
*Repeat steps 1-8 to see mp3 files, files can only be played while the phone is open

Another thing you can do is enable DUN, so you can tether your phone to a computer and access the internet on your phone.
1. Make sure your phone is connected to the computer with the USB cable and the drivers are installed.
2. Click the Setting button on the left. Click on Feature in the right pane and also put a checkmark in the box.
3. Click on 'Read From Phone' and wait for it to read the settings from the phone. When asked for the MSL code, type in 000000
4. Find the 'DUN' feature entry and from the dropdown box choose 1XDUN
5. Click on 'Write To Phone' and wait for it to write the new settings. When asked for the MSL code, type in 000000
6. Your phone will reboot (if it turns off and doesn't turn back on, manually turn it back on)
7. Open up the Control Panel on your computer and find Network Connections. Create a new connection
8. When asked, say you wish to use a dial-up modem. Choose the 'SAMSUNG CDMA Modem'.
9. Put any name for the ISP, such as NationalAccess or Express Network, or whatever you wish.
10. Put #777 for the phone number when asked.
11. The username is yourphonenumber@vzw3g.com. An example would be 3215556677@vzw3g.com if your number was 321-555-6677. Leave the password blank.
12. You should now be able to connect with that connection and access the internet.
*last important step in setting up DUN
After all this, I created a DUN entry in windows (#777, username = xxxxxxxxxx@vzw3g.com, pw = vzw), and I got the same username/password invalid error that everyone else has been mentioning. I finally found another post on the Howard Forums that describes the missing step: http://www.howardforums.com/showpos...31&postcount=55
Basically, in the network connection properties dialog, you need to go to the security tab, select the advanced radio button, then click on the Setting button. In the resulting dialog, select "Optional Encryption (connect even if no encryption)", then select the "Allow these protocols" radio button, and uncheck every checkbox below that, except the "Unencrypted Password (PAP)" checkbox (check that one.)

Step up to get free ring tones and edit pix on your Samsung a930:

1.) go to web site: http://www.bitpim.org/
2.) download the newest version released
3.) hook up the phone and (read data from phone)
4.) From here you can edit ring tones and pix
5.) Send data to phone to save add items

Ok now that we have cover the Basic stuff on the Samsung a930 (DUN, MP3, Free Ring tones, edit pix, etc.) ill move on to the hidden menu’s personally I have found six hidden menu’s if anyone has anything to add let me know !! Very appreciated

Bluetooth instead of usb data cable?

You mentioned getting a data cable or using Bluetooth.
If I want to get some ringtones (via bitpim) can I still use Bluetooth?

Wap is the mobile internet browser on the phone.
Dun is when you connect the phone to a laptop, and go on the internet on the laptop using the phone as a modem.

I've not had any luck getting into the hidden browser menu. I've been able to get into every other menu just fine!

I get to the Get It Now screen, hit # and nothing happens. Do I have to do anything else from the get it now screen? I'm at the main get it now screen with all of the different "get" options, such at Get Tunes & Tones..etc etc

Are there different versions of software for this phone?

default proxy address: (to change back to verizon defualt web menu)
http port: 8080
Primary DNS: gw.vzwap.com
Primary Proxy address: --.---.--.-- <--- not sure some double check me?
Secondary Proxy address: --.---.-.-- <-- again not sure some one double check me?
(im not sure if those address are for my own phone or for everyones)
(I dont want to post those numbers yet im not sure if its hooked to my account or if its the same number for everyone ? i have my Proxy address numbers but idk if they are hook to my account... ?? so ill found out then maybe post it or someone else can

Its a good idea to write numbers and things down before you change it so you can always go back

Send a message via AIM to hypercooljake
For those that can't get into the MMS menu or browser menu, YOU MUST ENABLE THE HIDDEN MENU FIRST
