I'm expecting a dead end here, but have any of you successfully accessed the ringtones or pics that are stored on the phone? I have been scouring the internet and other forums, and I've got about nothing, but I just had to ask.

I traded in my U420 in. I was on the phone with Alltel and Samsung looking for a data cable and drivers. Samsung said it was a lower end phone, and they do not have plans of providing drivers for it.

For those having trouble with the drivers: http://cellphoneforums.net/samsung/...tml#post1122828

I have successfully connected to the phone, that is not my problem. I was instead referring to the fact that a few directories don't allow access via BitPim (although many do).

There is a driver for it. Alltel retail stores sell the data kit for it as well. Whoever you talked to at Samsung was smoking something......

U420 data kit from Alltel?

You talked to someone at Alltel and they said they had driver and data kit, or you have one? My Alltel said they don't have one.

They may not have it in stock yet but they are getting it. There was an issue that delayed the release of it along with the U420 but that has been resolved. Alltel part # is SDASM03

I bought the phone about three weeks ago. All I wanted to do is sync my contacts with outlook and transfer the pictures off the phone. I looked for the Data Cable and software on the web. I called Alltel's Tech Support, and they called Samsung for me. After that called I traded in my phone for a Razr.

U420

Had never tried to use Bluetooth until about 3 weeks ago. When I bought my phone 4 months ago I was told I could file trasfer from phone to phone or to computer via wireless. After I discovered I can't I went to local Alltel store and was told it is Closed Bluetooth. Works only with a headset. They told me all of their Bluetooth enable phones were Closed Bluetooth except Motorola's. Problem is they did not tell me this up front. Actually one of the girls there told me they didn't know about it at first when I called. But when I talked with the Area Rep at the store he acted like I was informed about it when I bought it. From what I've been reading on the net, nobody knew about it. We were all duked. Contacted my attorney about it and he is sending them a letter demanding they replace it with a phone that is capable of doing what they told me. Hate to get nasty but I felt I was sold defective merchandise. Or was misrepresented to me. OH!!! Received email from Samsung and they tell me that Alltel requested a stripped down phone still full of features like Access Apps. He suggested the reason they done this was to keep people from transferring their own ringtones and wallpaper and make them have to purchase via Access Apps. Has anyone else bought this phone being told it would trasfer phone to phone and via wireless?

Uh, no. It's fairly common knowledge that most phones have OBEX disabled, methinks.

And, the attorney thing...I'm not gonna comment too deep, but yeah - good luck with that one.

sorry for being slow on getting back.........attorney sent letter......area Rep. called.....new phone.......when the right people speak.....they listen......if you even look at the alltel sight it talks about limited bluetooth connectivity on several phones......not this one........so a person could easily assume it has full bluetooth capabilities
