A930 Ringtones

i can not get ringtones on my a930 i have done all of the steps but on step 11 i save the sound but it dont play any one help

1. Make sure you have the ringtone clip (less than 300kb) saved on your computer as a .mp3 file.
2. Select the file and go to rename, then add .mid to the end of the file. It should now show up as filename.mid.mp3.
3. Open your e-mail browser, (outlook, yahoo, gmail, etc.)
4. Create a new message to phonenumber@vzwpix.com. Subject and text don't matter.
5. Attach the filename.mid.mp3 file to the message.
6. Click send, the message should arrive in roughly 15 min.
7. On the phone, open the message. The ringtone should start playing.
8. Go to Options.
9. Go to Save Sound.
10. Save the sound file with whatever name you want.
11. Go to My Sounds, and then set the sound as your ringtone.

If you didn't use Bitpim, then the .mp3 extension is what's keeping the phone from playing the ringtone. You need to have the .mp3 extension removed. I say if you didn't use Bitpim, then get Bitpim from their website, and take the file you want converted, then when it finishes converting to a ringtone, change the extension from .mp3 to .mid, then upload the file to your phone. I prefer the data cable, so that it doesn't cost me for using text messages.

i dont use bitpim

if you are emailing yourself the ringer just make sure its .mid or midi and it should work fine with the steps listed above.

so basically step 2 should read... rename to songname.mid

good luck

on Bitpim you click on the "add ringers", browse your desktop for the one you want, then click it and ,voila. the phone WILL reboot when its done. no need to worry. it always does when finished

i made a step by step process and added it to the wiki a while ago:
http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/Samsung_SCH-A930
Sending Ringtones by E-mailing Your Phone

1. fix up ur ringtone the way u want it (less than 300kb)
2. convert to .wav (i have a xilisoft program)
3. open the .wav in the windows sound recorder
4. go to file > properties > convert now
1. PCM
2. 22.050 kHz, 16 bit, Mono - 43 kb/sec
3. hit ok, ok again and file > save
5. convert the .wav back to .mp3 (same prog)
6. rename filename.mp3 to filename.mid.mp3 (if u dont have it set so u can see the extensions, then rename it to filename.mid)
7. open up the file in winamp
8. right click on it and go to "View File Info"
9. check ID3v2 tag and fill in some info (title, artist, album, year and genre should do) and hit update
10. open up ur email client (i use gmail, works nicely)
11. email the filename.mid.mp3 to ur phone (phonenumber@vzwpix.com)
12. when ur phone receives it (wait time may vary) go to options > save sound
13. delete the .mid and hit OK and it should save fine
