Debranding Nokia 6300b (RM-222) w/ 6300 (RM-217) firmware
Hey all, Not sure if this is a true debrand but my main goal was to be able to use my own MP3's as ringtones on my new Fido 6300.
I made sure no Nokia software was running and connected the phone via USB. Opened up NSS and clicked the magnifying glass, all my phone info came up. I went to tools, factory settings, clicked to highlight the "Full Factory" radio button and clicked reset.
Closed NSS, rebooted the phone...had PTT and a new IM icon, could set any MP3 as a tone, changed the theme to Nokia.nth.
That's it. Now I can use any MP3 as a tone. Just make sure to take your SIM out or you will erase all of your contacts on the SIM.

No Fido stuff at start-up. I get the Nokia hands. The Fido theme was also erased. I do get ROGERS in light greay just under the battery, but you hardly notice it.
I am scratching my head now.... because... I want to get rid of the Fido customization, this is the summary...
- Phoenix/NSS detects the phone as RM-217
- NSU after update product code to 0515597 (HK), Traditional/Simplified available. Fido customization still there.
- Flashed with 4.70 EMEA firmware -> bricked (downgrade always brick)
- Dead Phone USB Flash w/ RM-222 4.71 Fido Firmware -> worked, showed up as RM-217
- No customization, music player and other things in the standy screen
- Changed the product code to 0515597 (HK), no Fido customization
- Phone still detects as RM-217
My conclusion is... I get a Fido RM-217 unless I can test out the availability of 850Mhz. You can get rid of the Fido stuff by performing a Dead Phone USB Flash because it will wipe everything.

That is strange. Before I did mine I had a Fido start-up. After I had the Nokia start-up. The Fido theme is still on the phone, but it's not activated.
As soon as I flashed my phone with Fido's firmware, there is an error message about the "image", and everything was reset to "default". I found out that I lose all the built-in ring tones, themes (even nokia.nth), and calculator. At that time I realized I installed a crippled firmware.
So I flashed with the CMCC Chinese firmware because it is the only 4.71 available. I then changed the product code to HK with NSS and flashed again with NSU. However, now NSU says the software I have on my phone is latest and "Reinstall" is not available.
