Hey, I was wondering if anyone had effectively put ringtons on there Venus, and not had the "non-drm protected file" error ?? .. and if so, how ? , I've tried a couple different ways to put the tones on the phone. They work, but i cant 'set as' on the phone without the drm error.
please help.
******, i wish that Telus didn't lock these phones down to tight ... Ah well .. hopefully someone figures out the hack for this phone.
P.S> my girlfriend is totally not l33t.
I'm on Telus and I"ve managed to add my own ringtones, I tried following a few tutorials, but mine never worked when I tried putting them where everyone else apparently successfully put them, so it might be different on Telus so I'll post what I did, might help someone!
----------------------------------------------
WHAT YOU"LL NEED
-usb cable that came with the phone
-BitPim installed on your computer
----------------------------------------------
1)plug the phone into your computer using the usb cable. When asked if you want to "connect phone to pc using usb" say NO or BitPim won't connect.
2)start up BitPim, choose the 8800 for phone type. Under 'view' select 'View Filesystem'. Put your ringtones in the filesystem here:
brew>shared>ringtones
DONE!
A couple of points:
-save your ringtone as mp3
-max length of 30 seconds
-if you use Audacity set the mp3 to highpass of around 300 to limit the bass so it won't distort
Hope that helps you Telus users! I spent a while troubleshooting to figure this out!
