Unlocked iPhone with Vodaphone?

Hi all-
Moving to Glasgow in a few weeks. I have an unlocked 1st gen iPhone. Wondering if I'll have any problems with a pay-monthly plan and a data bolt-on? I know Vodafone has EDGE service, but will I need to do anything special besides popping the sim into the iPhone? Thanks for any advice!
