broken W580 screen, trying to get my phone data back via USB, can anyone help ?
hello all and thanks in advance for your help
I have a sony ericsson W580 with a broken screen. Unfortunately it has never been backed up, and now i'm struggling to get the phone data back via USB.
Using the sony ericsson PC suite, i managed to get the memory card contents back ( pictures etc)
but i'm struggling with the phone data. All pointers indicate that I have to select "phone mode" on the phone dialog box. Yet with a broken screen i have no clue how this is done, which key to press. I've tried and tried random selection buttons to no avail. And because of this the phone stays in "file transfer mode", i can't synch or download the data.
could anyone help me get the phone into "phone mode", so that it can be recognized and the phone data transfered to a computer. Something like, plug the cable, then press up up C or something.
Ok I am not sure but I might have one way. If you install something like A2 uploader to your computer and after you start that you need to hold "C" on some Ericssons you need to hold "2" instead and plug your phone (while it is off) in to the data cable and do not let go the button until you start to see the window start listing things at the left side. You should now be able to see your phone files on the right side of the window. I don't know if you can copy the folders or you need to do it file by file but I know that others have copied over files one way or the other. I really hope that you can get your files this way because A2 uploader dose not work for all Ericssons if that is the case then you will need a different program to see the files. And make sure when you do this your phone is fully charged or close to full battery. Hope this helps.
