Getting a new phone...I have a question

Ok...so as my luck goes, I got a phone on Verizon, I like it etc, but a new version of it is coming out now, that fixes all the things I dislike about mine. *i like my phone a lot, but the kinks have been worked out*

soooooooo...im 3 months into a family plan with VZW. If we added a new line...would i be able to get the phone at a lower rate? And just agree to stay on for 2 years? or does it not work that way...I'd make up the extra $9/month or whatever it is, for my current phone...or have my line deactivated.

Just curious

Sure you can always add a line and get a new phone (at discounted pricing) that way.

Yes, you can do that. One thing to look at is what you will pay over the life of the contract.

Look at the phone price at a 1 year contract and 2 year contract. See if it would be cheaper in the long run to pay the 1 year phone price, then only $119.88 for a year, or the 2 year phone price at $239.76 for 2 years.

What phone is it?

its the Env3, or Env Touch.

If I sold my EnV2 on ebay (Barely used) I could make like...$225 or so on it...

I can't just get a new phone at the 2 year contract price...with my current line, if I sign on for 2 years from "This week" right? Or can you just sign on another 2 years at any time during the plan...

I guess my other alternative is just paying full price-maybe thats not worth it.

You can only get a new phone at discounted pricing on a line that is eligible to upgrade or get that pricing (like a new line). On existing lines, you would generally not be able to upgrade at least for 10 months on a line where you got a phone at 1-year discounted pricing (with a 1-year contract) or at least 20 months (or possibly 18 months if that comes around for everyone) on a line where you got a phone at a 2-year discounted price (with a 2-year contract).
