Talking **Free WAP for V710 tutorial***

this uses airtime, but costs no money. I hope it helps. You can change the homepage to whatever you want and I don't know if you need the password, but just put it in. It doesn't hurt.

1.) Click Menu
2.) click "mobile Web"
3.) click "web sessions"
4.) click "New Entry"
fill in the following

Name:WAP
homepage: http://wap.oa.yahoo.com
userid:
Password: vzw
gatewayip: 216.99.207.233
Gateway1:
Server type1: wap
Port1: 8080
E2E Port1: 9201
LXL Port1: 9201
Domain 1:
gatewayip: 216.99.207.233
Service type2: WAP
Port2: 9201
E2E Port2: 9201
LXL Port2: 9201

Holy crap it worked. I could've sworn I did that last friday, but oh well. One quick question:

Why do you have the first server type set to WAP, but the port is set to 8080 which is usually used for HTTP transfers?

Edit:
Well, one other question:

Is there any way to be able to navigate by typing in URLs like you would w/ a real browser?

I feel bad for not offering it earlier. I figured everyone had it.

just a tip, there is a number 1-800-555-8355 that is a free call. it's a voice activated directory that gives you a lot of the stuff you are most likely going to use mobil web for like weather, sports, entertainment, directions. have fun.

Does this totally negate the need to have the mobile web service? Is this legal?

it is legal. perfectly legal. You are just not using verizon as a isp.

The opinion that this eliminates the need for verizon's mobile web. I bet most people will say yes. It just depends if you like there format and features better.

in the dark about WAP

ok, I'm laboring w/my old timeport, verizon w/msn...only using the content they put on my phone. I've tried many times to key in links to sites I've found on the web in "'wap directories" and I always get error messages

W/this v710 mobile web 2, can I put in any wap link I want to and browse it?

This might seem like an ignorant question, but does this still give you WAP 2.0 features?
