Very Very Very P***ed Off With Vodafone
When I use my mobile phone, I tend to use it a lot (I'm 15, so I'd spend a lot on texting . So, I had this call barring option put in place, to stop me overspending. How it works, is that if I go over a certain amount, the phone would bar for the rest of the month.
Well, a long time ago, Vodafone started barring my phone prematurely, even though they had clamed that I had overspent. And to prove this wasn't true, the following two bills which showed that month reflected that I had gone no-where near my limit.
When my phone gets barred, I used to get a text when i'm 75% of my limit, and when I have exceeded the limit and the phone is barred. IT would be followed by something like "Call this number and make a payment to un-bar your phone".
NOW, I DON'T EVEN GET THOSE TEXT MESSAGES WHEN MY PHONE GETS BARRED. I AM KEPT IN THE DARK ABOUT MY SPENDING UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. The fact that my counters on my phone track the amount of time I have spent on the phone (both sent and receieved calls), not how long I have actually made calls on the phone myself .
And, this month was the WORST. I had changed my tariff from Anytime 100 to Eve&Weekend 1000, simply because that was when I was using my phone more often, so it was common sense to go for that option. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME, HOW TWO DAYS AFTER MY TARIFF WAS CHANGED, AFTER ONLY SENDING ABOUT 5 SMS's IN TOTAL, AND ONLY SPENDING 7 MINUTES MAXIMUM ON A CALL TO A UK LANDLINE, WHY VODAFONE BARRED MY PHONE?? WHAT DO THEY EXPECT ME TO DO? CALL THEM UP AND MAKE ANOTHER PAYMENT ON TOP OF MY MONTHLY BILLS? IS THIS ANOTHER SCAM BY VODAFONE TO MILK EVEN MORE MONEY OUT OF US AND MAKE US EVEN MORE FRUSTRATED WITH THEIR SERVICES??
Don't get me started on what the guys at the other end had to say. We had phoned Vodafone TWO YEARS AGO, requesting that the barring service to be removed, simply because it was playing us up like this all the time. Today's date is the 19th August 2004. TWO YEARS!! We called them up today and they said "Ah okay okay we won't bar it for you" and you know what, I wouldn't be surprised if I find that my phone doesn't work tomorrow morning!
Does anyone else, just out of mild curiosity, have any problems that I have mentioned? Anything from the phone barring problem, to the INABILITY FOR VODAFONE TO FOLLOW A SIMPLE INSTRUCTION DOWN THE PHONE LINE???
If you are reading this, anyone at Vodafone, THIS is the voice of an EXTREMELY UNHAPPY AND FRUSTRATED CUSTOMER, who once the contract expires, will PERMANENTLY (and I mean, permanently) TAKE HIS MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE. Don't worry Vodafone, this isn't even HALF of all the problems I have with your service, but all of them are addressed in the stamped-addressed envelope I have sent, and that you will receive in your letterbox very shortly. It will keep you occupied for at least a week just to read all those pages!

Since you have a contract with Vodafone and it's not going well with them, consider a fresh start with another provider. Otherwise, the written method is the best way to communicate your dissatisfaction to them. Make sure you send it to a specific person at Vodafone who can address your problem (i.e. a supervisor) or go to a Vodafone store and speak with the manager in person. I've had good experiences with Vodafone and if I had an issue, going to a store helped since they got on the phone with Customer Care which spared me the need to call them myself.
How much time do you have left on your contract? If you want to change, consider porting your existing number to O2, Orange, T-Mobile or Virgin.
Best of Luck

Well, I have expressed my problems by written means, and I am waiting for a reply. As for changing to another provider, I've still got 12 months left on my contract, as I have just changed my tariff.

Yeah Good Luck, I just dealt with Vodafone UK too to get my V525 unlocked so I could use it with my German SIM card. They gave it to me with no questions asked other than the usual stuff of getting the IMEI (phone serial number) and phone number.

Thanks all for your replies. Vodafone have yet to send me a reply. Isn't it interesting how the bills are ALWAYS on time (never ONCE been late, with the exception of postal delays), yet the complaints? It's now been ten days btw, since I have written to them. I'll be patient and wait for a reply, but if I don't get one soon, I'll bombard their E-mail server until they do reply!!

Finally gotten a reply.
I have finally received a reply from Vodafone - to which they were able to sum up my complaints of a page and a half in six lines (for the other complaints, see the SHARP forum).
They merely stated that "we have looked into your account and we can confirm that the call barring status has been lifted as you require. We also confirm that your status regarding Media Messages has been lifted".
Btw, about the Media Messages - I was p*d off when I kept getting messages about Vodafone's promotional offers - because they were sent by MMS, which we have to pay GPRS charges to download. What's more, is that all it really is is some animated GIF logo with the Vodafone Logo on, and all the text underneath refers to the offer. And when I texted Vodafone on 9774 telling them to stop media messaging me, they continued to send media messages to me.
The letter seems just to state what I have been told down the phone line - so somehow I'm still not convinced. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

Hah! I knew it.
I knew what they said in that letter was a load of bull. What did I get this afternoon? Another Media Message from Vodafone, advertising half price games, ringtones etc.
For a start, Vodafone, It's not summer anymore, so stop putting "Summer of Vodafone Live!" on all your messages.
And secondly, and much more imporantly, this will be the THIRD TIME I will have to tell them to stop MMSing me! I'm not interested in their offers but someone doesn't seem to be getting the message
but can i just ask, if you are 15 then how did you get a contract anyway, you can't have a credit check? and if vodafone annoy you that much i would just go to another provider for a stress free life

Goodness gracious. This was four years ago... didn't realise I could get so emotional over a mobile phone company.... How'd you dig up this old thread?
It's in my dad's name lol. Guess I was stressed because my bills were always £150+ a month back then, but now I'm on a much better tariff and my bills never go above £35.
Talk about blast from the past though haha.... I'm 19 now. Go figure, I work for the Carphone Warehouse!
