Post How to send clips to your phone via Verizon's Site

Ok, I've been asked so many times how to send music clips from Verizon's site, and have typed it so many times in so many different threads, I thought I'd go ahead a put up a new seperate thread on it for all to see.

Maybe this will squelch/help all that.

Ok, here we go.

Link to Verizon's site to send music clip----->HERE

Now, once your on Verizon's site, go down to where it says Create A Message and click on that. (No, you don't need to sign in or anything)

On the new page go to where it says To and add your cell phone number starting with your area code.

Example: 6601234567 - do not put any slash marks in the number

After that scroll down towards the bottom of the page and you'll see what looks like a piece of film negative. On the left hand side, you'll see From PC. Click on it.

A small box will come up and there will be 3 choices in it. Click on Add Text. Another small box will come up. Click inside that box and type something. Example: 12

Once that is done, click on Add. Your screen may flash, but once that's done, you'll see the text you typed in the main area of film negative area now.

If that is correct, go back to From PC and once again click on it. This time click on Add Audio. Another small box will come up. Once this box is up, click on Browse and search your Hard Drive for the sound clip you want to send to your phone.

Once you found it, double click on it. The path to the song should now be showing in the small box. If it is, click on Add, and the screen should flash.

If all goes well, on the new screen it should say up top in red:

Upload Success
Uploaded:yoursong.mid

Now that all that is done, all you have left to do is send it to your phone.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Send

In a few seconds you should see your phone accepting the clip.

Ta Da, that's it....your done.

I hope this helps. ENJOY!!!!

P.S. Make sure your sound clip had the .mid extention and not .mp3, and also make sure the file size is like 100k or less, or the site won't send it (there is a size limit).

Also, if you plan to send a lot of audio and/or images to your phone, I would strongly suggest getting a cable for your particular phone.

Oh, by the way, this also works for sending wallpapers and images to your phone. Instead of clicking on Add Audio just click on Add Image and follow the rest of the steps in the tutorial up above.

It will not send animated gif's though. Yeah, I know...bummer.

Once again, if you want to have those kinds of items on your phone, buy a cable.

Ok, enough PM and emails.

Here's how to change the extention on your mp3's.

It's really quite simple.

Go to Window's Explorer, up top click on Go To Tools then on Folder Options and then View.

Once there, scroll down till you find Hide Extensions For Know File Types and make sure there isn't a check mark beside it. If there is get rid of it. Click OK till your all the way out of there.

Go into your files now on your drive where you keep your phone clips.

Now all the extentions should be showing for all your files. Right click on one of your music clip files, hit END on your keyboard, and this should have your cursor sitting at the end of the file name. Now just hit backspace 2 time to delete the p3 portion of the file name and type in id and hit OK. It's going to say something about renaming the file stuff, don't worry about it, hit ok again. It now should be named whatever.mid, and you should be set.

See, told ya it was easy.

If you don't like seeing the extention's for whatever reason, just reverse the above and your all set.

Hope this helps

I think it would be a good idea, if you all would post here whether or not this will work with your phones. That way others looking at this post will know whether or not to even try.

I do know this works on both my VX 7000 and VX 6000, and it doesn't work on either of my wifes phones - VX3200 and Kyocera 2325

Hmmm... I thought that you need to have a camera phone to have the picture messaging service enabled. I know it works for my vx 6000.

You do have to have a picture capable phone to get pic's....but I originally made the thread for sending music (mp3/midi) to your phone.

After posting, I realized I should have been more specific with my title.

Now I just want to know what phones it works on and/or doesn't.

Both for sending pictures and for sending song clips.

This should help before anybody try's, if enough people post here as to yes or no and which phone.

First off, try sending the song clips one at a time. If you did exactly as I explained, it should work with your phone.

As for pictures.....I've sent 2 and 3 at a time to my phone and it worked every time.

As for cost......I sent like 15 music/art clips to my phone at the end of my billing cycle last month just to see what the actual charge was. It said for sending them, the cost was like .34 cents for all of them.

So no...it didn't cost you .25 cents, more like a couple penny's.

I'll just answer in order of your questions.

1. Yes, they are real mp3 songs. Just change the extention from mp3 to mid like I have explained up above.

2. I doubt you can send more than one mostly because of size limitations. Poly ringtones are very small in size....so sending more than one at a time was/is possible. Most of mine and everybody else's song clips are like 75k to 100k in size.

3. If you go to verizon's site where you send songs/pictures to your phone, it will tell you the exact amount you are able to send at a time. (it's actually misleading. try and stay around 100k and you'll be fine)

4. If you have changed the .qcp extention to .mid, and they are like I said around 75k to 100k clips. you should be able to send them to your phone. I guess I'm lost as to why you would want to listen to them on your computer? They are after all just phone clips right?

5. I really don't know if they will work on the 4400. I do know because of a previous post, that it will not work on the 4500. You'll just have to try. It's only a couple penny's if it don't. Also, if you do try please post here so all the rest of us will know one way or the other please.

yes as i sent my first one, it screwed up

it contained exactly 1 pics and 2 realtones each tone being close to 45-60 kb (very small 10-20 sec clips) anyways when i had had the speaker under normal mode and tried to open up the incoming message, it said that there was an error and cant open it
then i tried it in manner and silence mode then i opend the incoming message and it opend! i was so happy. i veiwed the pic that i sent and saved it but the music clips were there but i just cant save them there was an error sayin that they have to be under 30 kb so what do i do ?

i will try to do it one at a time and check if it works but please explain that previous one screwed up had a total of 89kb in the previous one

also please tell me a sucsess full method of sending more than one clip that has a grand total of 100kb as i can send about 3 of them if there is a way

also i dont understand the part where u said that it will only cost just cuple of pennies because it should cost 25c and i dont know why u got it to 34c and trust me 25c will start to add up and i am juss 16 and dont have alot of money

thank you

First off....I'm looking at my verizon bill I got yesterday. It states right on the bill that I sent 7 text messages. (thats how I do it, type a couple letters and attach a music clip to it). To send those 7 messages cost me .14 cents.

I also sent 11 pictures to my phone, but this differ's than what it told me on the Verizon's site, but now it says that those pictures where included in my package...(which is true)

I pay $4.99 a month to be able to send up to 80 pictures from my phone or to my phone.

If indeed your that worried about the cost adding up, you have a couple options.

First...go out and buy yourself a cable. Thats what I use all the time. All software for it you can find here in the forums and it's all free. It's a one time investment and to me well worth it.

Second option is to buy one of the picture/text messaging package that Verizon offers. I think the smallest one is like $2.99 a month. But remember, that's every month.

I'm sure there are other method's of sending like using your regular email account, but I won't get into all that as there are a lot of threads already on that subject.

Maybe somebody else who reads this can say what they were charged for sending a text message with a sound clip attached.

As for the 30 second rule. I do remember something about that for my 6000. But, I haven't sent a song clip to it from Verizon, I always use my cable.
