BASICS:
- I will be going for an unlimited in & out USA Long Dist plan
- Avoid contracts but if no penalty bail out like SunRocket then I guess that should be fine.
I need a VoIP Service that will allow me to do the following:
IMPORTANT
Right Now:
Softphone Usage:
Use a a SoftPhone(freeW service or freeware/BYOD), since I dont have the ability to connect any equipment to connect to Hardwire. I CANT USE HW DEVICE RIGHT NOW EVEN IF THE PROVIDER GIVES ONE FOR FREE.
Integrated VM:
Allow me to go through it online (web) [Not keep e-mailing me], that preferably shows time, date & hopefully a caller id of where it came from. Ofcourse, the elementary dial-in VM would be good. Also, a toll free dial-in would be great.
Call Tracking: <Details from the members here would be nice on whats their experience of the online portal>
Something that allows me to track all my outgoing, incoming, missed calls and voicemails.. hopefully even shows usage / minutes ..
< I cant recall how many times someone has called me and I've forgotten to save / write down their number and it would be nice to go through the calls online and see what number it was and how long I spoke to them. (i.e. sort of itemized like a T-mobile cell phone bill)
and maybe better if I can download it as an Excel or CSV.
Later:
Hardware BYOD:
If they provide a free ATA or device.. well n good. I'd prefer not to pay for one since my future plan is...
- ATA+ Cordless Handsfree Phone w Headset @ HOME.
AND
- Maybe a Pocket PC Smart Phone that does WiFi (Imate types) that I may use at home as well as when travelling. @ ON THE ROAD.
BONUS:
Simultaneous calls from two locations / two devices ???
OBSERVATIONS: (let me know if one is wrong)
- SunRocket is great.. cheap.. no cancellation or signup fees etc. But doest say BYOD anywhere. Can I use a SOFTPHONE without paying extra ? - Is there a way to make this work BYOD, SW & HW ??
- Vonage wants 9 $ extra per month for me to use a Softphone (even if I use some freeware) ??
- Broadvoice = More expensive than SunRocket.. but it has BYOD. PS: Also, its got some hidden charges (no biggie though)
DO LET ME KNOW YOUR SUGGESTIONS / ANSWERS:
Use this template if it helps: (use multiple entries on each item if single one doesnt apply exclusively)
Soft Phone Now: Yes, Free / No, Extra X $
Hard Phone BYOD: Yes / No / Maybe / Hack / On Request
Integrated VM: (Detail out your experience) E-mails / Online / Date / Time / VM Caller ID / Toll Free
Call Tracking: (Detailed Itemized Tracking) Incoming/ Outgoing / Missed / MissedPlus (even when disconnected from Network or turned off) / Time/Date/ CallLength/Time
