Post Using PNG Format for Wallpapers

Wutup peoplez!!! I was in the middle of getting some wallpapers off of the net and convert them to JPEG or GIF files for my i870.

Well, the wallpapers that I were converting were huge. I would say they were about 750 X 500 or more. I tried converting them to both JPEG and GIF files using Irfanview and I tried sharpening them. I even used Adobe Photoshop to see what that could do. The best results I recieved with the JPEG and GIF files was when I use Adobe. I loaded them up to the phone and was still slighly dissapointed. (Mind you that about 85% of the wallpapers on my phone are real high quality)

I remember when I loaded a G-Unit wallpaper to my phone, which was in PNG format, and it was so clear.

Anyway, I tried converting some of these really large photos using the PNG format in Irfanview and I was so amazed on how the PNG format kept the same resolution and quality of the original wallpaper.

To conclude, I want to recommend at least trying to use the PNG format instead of the JPEG and GIF format, and see what it does for you! One downside of using this format is that the files can be large (I'm talking about 70kb), and when you view them on your phone it takes a few more seconds for it to be visible than JPEG or GIF files.

Post your results, questions, or comments.
