TMO MDA Backlight problem

I've own an MDA for about 2 weeks now, the first few days using it was great...love the features, phone looks great, just love everything about it. Then there was this one problem that can’t seem to be solve (Haven’t found how to yet or if it’s even solvable). Because of this one issue, I have to go back to the dealer and show them, hoping that they might have a solution. I ended up receiving a new MDA, and hours later the same problem occurred when I got home. One day, the backlight just stops responding (not literally). I usually, after finish using the phone for whatever reason, tap the power button on top to turn off the screen to conserve power. Next thing you know, screen comes on when turning back on, but backlight doesn’t light up. I then proceed to settings/systems/backlight, to brighten it up. Then I do what I usually do again and tap the power button to shut off screen. When tapping it again to turn back on, NO BACKLIGHT!!! Only way to solve it is to do the HARD RESET (which clears everything including all my contacts), which only works for so long, because days (even hours later), the same no backlight situation occurs. What I want to know is if this is a defected phone (both of them)??? Are there certain settings that are not meant to be change such as changing the power options??? Is there a solution to this situation??? If there is, can you please inform me on how to correct it? Thanks in advance!!!
