Originally, Republic indicated an intent to allow unlimited Wifi calling and to impose some limits on CDMA usage, but they recently announced that they would not be enforcing any CDMA usage limits. Republic Wireless is currently in a limited beta. You can sign-up for access to the beta at their web-site. Currently, Republic Wireless sells only a single phone, a Sprint-branded LG Optimus One. Republic charges $199.00 for the phone. The phone runs an open source version of Android 2.3 based upon CyanogenMod and has a modified version of Clockworkmod Recovery. The phone is rooted as sold. Root access can be obtained by installing SuperUser from the Android Market.
