• Seven Days Until the New Nexuses - Here's What We Know

A new Nexus phone is a big deal in the world of Android. At the very least it runs the latest version of the OS, free of any carrier or OEM bloat. It ships unlocked and with an unlockable bootloader as well, and its history as a reference device for developers means that it will always have the best support for custom ROMs.

And lucky us, this year we'll be treated to two new devices!

Invites have been dispatched to the tech press for an event to be held on Tuesday, September 29th, where we will almost certainly see a new version of Android—Marshmallow—along with two new phones. Here's everything we know about them:

    LG Nexus 5 2015 / 5X

    • 5.2 inch 1080p display
    • Snapdragon 808 processor
    • 3GB RAM, 32/64GB storage
    • 2700mAh battery
    • available in white, black and blue

    Huawei Nexus 6 2015 / Nexus P

    • 5.7 inch QHD screen
    • Snapdragon 810 processor
    • 3GB RAM, 32/64/128GB storage
    • 3500mAh battery
    • available in white and black

I should point out that there are a few conflicting rumours about the Huawei Nexus; what I've listed above seems the most plausible from everything I've read. Although no prices have been leaked, the 5X will likely be more in line with the price points of LG's previous Nexus phones.

Fingerprint readers and USB-C charging ports are set to be a new spec for Nexus in 2015, along with front-firing stereo speakers that were made standard with the current Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 tablet. I suspect that the tradition of OIS camera lenses and wireless charging will also continue.

Who's excited for a new Nexus?

I'm excited for the news, but I won't be buying as I've only had my Nexus 6 since June, and I keep my phones a while.

More excited for the official release of Marshmallow.

I'd be all over the 5x if I had the money, and if only it supported micro SD. With all the updates, although my 2013 N5 is still fine (knock wood) I don't want to risk another phone full of data to multiple years of OS updates without SD.

Hmmm. Maybe I found the problem. I disabled Wi-Fi calling and it now rings every time and much quicker too.

I should have followed up on this sooner, but here we are two years later and time does fly by. I did change my GV number, and none of the shadow numbers changed. I was very surprised by this.

    Unreliable ring

I'm rather new to smart phones. I have a new unlocked E6 I bought from Motorola. It uses Ting.

Usually it works okay. About one time out of six, it doesn't ring when called, and the caller...
