• YouTube + other services added to BingeOn!

    Hey guys!

John Legere made a major announcement today via Twitter. Long story short, more services have been added including Fox Business, Discovery and YouTube!

You can read all about it here: https://newsroom.t-mobile.com/news/b...mped-again.htm

What are your thoughts on this? Like or dislike?

Personally I think it's good but also shows that TMO is moving away from unlimited data at a slow pace. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

How does this show T-mobile is moving away from unlimited data? They always planned to include YouTube, but had some technical coding issues to overcome.

YouTube is already configurable via settings in the app. I also see that Netflix has a low bandwidth setting when it recognizes that the phone is using carrier data.

I like what T-Mobile is doing with Binge On. I especially like that T-Mobile is creating real competition and innovation, forcing the other carriers to do more than collect money from their customers.

This I already knew. But think of it in this sense - "if all of these services are zero rated, why would I need unlimited data"

I think that's what's going to happen in the future. There's been speculation ever since the whole Uncarrier contract thing. Of course, I have no evidence on this but is my own thoughts.

I agree that the uncontract thing made it super obvious.

So much for all the net neutrality arguments, Binge On looks like a success and has even added former critic YouTube!

It looks like content providers not part of Binge On will have the option to opt out since their data is not zero rated. Also YouTube is the first content provider that will optimize on their end instead of T-Mobile doing the optimization.

Dang... I wish I had Binge On.. With only 2.5GB, I am 500MB short of having it. When they doubled the data on 1GB regular plan, they should have added 1GB to my so called "promo" plan as well IMHO.

Oh well, it is still a good deal for me so can't really complaint - but I am doing it right now so go figure..

It doesn't look like the press release addresses net neutrality, but the plan was always to add YouTube. T-mobile had to overcome some technical limitations before YouTube could be added.

Even att brought back unlimited data so I don't think tmobile is going to walk away from unlimited. John is doing a great jo so far with tmobile and already stress tested the network for three months with unlimited data for everyone prettymuch so... Why walk away...

It's a move in the right direction. While the Net Neutrality issues aren't completely mitigated, and I'm sure some will still complain, it is a win for consumers and video providers. I'm OK with BingeOn in its current form.

Tricky. When I signed up for T-Mobile, I signed up for 5GB, and had free. When I dropped to 2GB, I saw I still had Bing On, so thought it was still free

Not that it matters for me. My iPad Mini is on an unlimited ATT plan, so if I watch video, I'll just use the bigger screen anyway.

Very cool. T-Mobile continues to differentiate their product from competitors. I really wish Sprint would suck it up and offer the same thing. We need more competition against Verizon and AT&T.

You assumed that Sprint is a 1/4 carrier. In my area, Sprint is a 3/4 carrier and T-Mo is 1/2. It may flip in other areas.

I can hardly wait for T-Mo to be heads and shoulders above AT&T and...

Boz, I'm partial to CC, in part because of their call treatments function. This is the holy grail for controlling inbound calls and spam protection. Well worth more than $1 a month.
