• Meet the Microsoft Surface Go

Yesterday Microsoft announced a new Surface tablet aimed at education markets, seeking to do battle against cheap Chromebooks and entry-level iPads. They're calling it the Surface Go; notable specs are as follows:

    10 inch 3:2 "PixelSense" display @ 1800 x 1200 pixels
    Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y processor
8 MP rear camera / 5 MP front camera
4 or 8 GB RAM / 64 GB eMMC or 128 GB SSD + microSDXC
    9 hour battery life
3.5 mm audio jack, Surface Connect, USB 3.1 Type C
Windows Home S (downloads from the Windows Store only)

The first available variants will have WiFi connectivity only; upmarket options with LTE and/or a 256 GB SSD will go on sale at a later date.

Starting price for the Surface Go is set at $399 USD or $549 CAD. The optional Type Cover will set you back an additional $99 USD / $128.99 CAD, and the mouse an additional $34.99 USD / $44.99 CAD. No word yet on Canadian pricing for the $99 USD pen accessory.

Pre-orders for the Surface Go start today, and will start shipping on August 2nd.
