• Ontario Seeks to Scrap Wireless Services Agreements Act

If you live in Ontario and are thinking of switching carriers you may want to get on that sooner rather than later, especially if you were looking to subsidize a new phone. The provincial government has introduced new legislation that could make that experience a lot worse.

Bill 66, also known as the Restoring Ontario’s Competitiveness Act, would actually repeal the Wireless Services Agreement Act introduced by the previous government in 2013. Here's what we stand to lose:

Fortunately, Bill 66 is far from a done deal. It's still up for debate in the Legislature, and will likely be studied by a committee. Now might be a good time to contact your MPP and let them know what you think...

As we have the Federal Wireless Code the Ontario Code is pretty much pointless
I wonder why it would have even been introduced as telecom always fell under the Federal umbrella

A lot of folks went ballistic on Ford for this bill, without considering what @Mr.Peppermint just posted.
Better clarification is required from the Ontario government.

Thanks. I should've Googled! :) Looks like they lifted the international throttle back in 2016.

That makes their $10/GB rate a much better offer.

If only you could buy it without a $20...
