Pixels are a bit different, as they are pretty much stock google with carrier packs.
LG phones on the other hand were customized by sprint and it makes the unlocking a bit harder.

The way Sprint's activation system worked, it requires a server side unlock with an active SIM card in the device. When I worked there in college, I really hated how Sprint's activation system worked...
