yes they will. itll show up as packet data to them and therefore youll be charged. doesnt matter whos server youre using, theyre not like vzw in that you can access the web w/o a plan and youll be charged per use

I setup my home WAP proxy and changed the IP and port on my LG PM-225 to the home computer, and am now connecting to the web (through phone).
I was just wanting to know if sprint will still charge for data use on my bill since theres no way to check until the bill comes, I want to know if using my own proxy is free with Sprint or will I be charged?

Thanks for telling me now before I really started racking up data. Someone said you could get free internet with Sprint but I guess I'm wrong. Bummer.
How do they know it's comming from my phone? The vision username signed on with or the ESN? I really want free WAP.
I want free cable service... but it isn't gonna happen. Live with it.Originally Posted by MattAspira
Okay, so theres just no way to get free data on Sprint without paying?
No there is not any way.
They know when your phone initiates a packet data connection to start charging per KB no matter what endpoint you connect to. Cough up the $15 a month.
Just be happy you're not paying Verizon or Cingular data prices.Originally Posted by MattAspira

With nextel you don't get broadband speeds.......

It may actually even be worse than the scenario described above. If you set up a WAP proxy, your phone may connect to the 2G data network (14.4Kbps) instead of the 2.5G or 3G data networks. This is billed at 39 cents per minute of usage.
also with any phone (WORKS BEST WITH NEXTEL) www.teknidude.comOriginally Posted by i870pimp
or wap.teknidude.com from your fone and you can check your email from any where like a pop3 google things posting in the howard forums is free and its linked you can navigate to other pages easily check your minutes uesd on your (NEXTEL) account mapquest is free also thier is a ton of movies showtimes
there is free white/yellow pages doppler radar weather mobile and a lot more like free aim(may cost u a netalert per message but dont worry you can shut off net alerts but you will have to check if a person im's you no ringtone is played)
i use it and i dont have a NEXTEL data plan al i have is a free ip address try it
Is that it, or should we wait for the English translation?Originally Posted by EZBOY360

How do VZW user not need a plan to access the web? Are they not billed per KB?Originally Posted by kellybrf
VZW users are billed peak or off-peak voice airtime for WAP usage. They also have to pay $5 per month to use the VZW WAP proxy, but if you use an alternate one you can get around that charge. This only applies to 1xRTT browsing; 1xEV-DO handsets all require a data plan with VZW.
