The pn-820 at the FCC is 1xRTT only, no EVDO. The pn-820 keyboard is your classic 12-key plus navigation dial pad, not the Q's full QWERTY. Why is there a SIM card in a CDMA phone? And where is the slot for it? It doesn't show in the FCC docs.

Personally I prefer clamshell phones. If this phone really has the Q's functionality AND a clamshell, I'm interested. If it lacks EVDO and a QWERTY keyboard, it's a 2003-era WM Smartphone.

Will you have to get the 45.99 data package with this phone or can you use mobileweb?

i dont think anyone could answer that at this point since we really are just posting about what we have heard or read and nobody knows what this phone will actually have or even if we will actually ever see it.

i cant imagine a clamshell tiny little screen and no keyboard and paying the $45 data plan.

Didn't VZW require the $45 data plan or its equivalent with the i600?

i have no idea on that but i was just saying that i would not pay that much for data on something so limited by its size even if it had WM5.

Let me clarify. It is EVDO capable, VZW makes sure that all the phones it introduces are EVDO capable, because what's the point in releasing a phone with reduced functionality, and if the engineering samples are EVDO-capable, then I would doubt that they'd cripple that for realease. It functions like a smartphone with WM5 and a dialpad with T9 and multipress capabilities. The sd slot is an SDIO slot meaning that you could use either a memory card or external hardware that has an SDIO interface, like a Wi-Fi card or a bar code scanner night club bouncers use on ID's. And there is no SIM card for the phone.

Davpel-It should be out in November, but marketing keeps a tight lid on info like that. I don't have any specs with me right now and they don't let us take that kind of information home with us. And for the most part it looks like the mobilewhack photo.

kaname, are you saying there is a regular size sd slot and not a mini sd like previously suggested? I didn't know mini sd was SDIO capable.

The Pantech PN-820 has a miniSD card slot if I remember correctly. It was a few weeks ago since I had it. It might have been a microSD.

While screen was small compared to the Treo or Q it wasn't bad at all.

    Overall I liked the device.

And no... the applications weren't locked on the one I had.

Sorry, it's not a regular sized SD, i think it's a miniSD, i don't think it's a micro. I'm pretty sure it's the same as the Q slot, it just has IO capabilities. And from what I remember the screen was 240x320 just like the Q only sideways.

I will most likely buy this phone when it comes out. I've been lugging the sch-i730 around for a long time now. Great PDA, OK as a phone but a little too big for my taste. I've been wishing for a WM5 flip phone. I hope VZW dosen't disable the A2DP like they did on the i730. It took a while to get a hack (thanks SD) but I love the wireless stereo for mp3's/movies. The $20.00 bluetooth logitech for ipod ones work great by the way.

My biggest concern on the 820 is the ugly antenna. None of the newer high end Moto's or Sammy's have one. (I know thier internal) I was wondering if anyone has ever used a "stubby" aftermarket replacement antenna on the verizon network and how bad the signal suffered. Also, is the same antenna used for all 3 radios? (cdma,bt,wifi)

I'm in the same boat as you: happy i730 user who wants something smaller and more pocketable. My big concern is not A2DP, but USB tethering. Ever since Verizon made the tethering add-on available to those of us with the i730, it has been a godsend for me in this WiFi-less wasteland that I call home. While I would love a full WM5 PPC flip (and the MPx was great in this regard), it doesn't look like anything is coming soon. The Samsung i770 will fit the bill, but even if it ever comes out, there are no firms plans for a CDMA version.

As for the antenna issue, when I get the Pantech I plan on replacing the stock one with a stubby (assuming I can find one that fits). That's what I did with my Moto e815 and it looked great and did not seem to affect signal strength at all (there were some early reports that battery life was affected, but that did not seem to be the case with mine). Picked one up on eBay.

Now if Verizon would just get off their butts and release this thing already . . .

Where did you find these pics? These appear to be from a different set than then ones which popped up all over the net this summer, and the design of the phone seems to have changed a bit.

Hopefully the emergency of these pics means a release date is finally approaching!
