Arrow "Make your home a hotspot" 1 year free plan discussion and T409 unlock

Hello my fellow Michelles (those who got the phone will find out about this sooner or later), let your customer care representative know you are calling about service you've won from the Make Your Home a HotSpot Giveaway . your password on the account is t-mobile .

    official definition:

    1000 incoming messages
    1500 outgoing messages
200 MMS messages (shows up on your my.tmobile after you send 1)
    2000 minutes
    Free Myfaves
Free Wifi Hotspot calls (some said its coming out from regular bucket.)
    Free t-zones

If at anytime that t-mobile feels that you are abusing their free service, they don't have to give you service until July of next year. So use your 2000 minutes, use your txt messages, but if you want to try other things like MMS and other stuff, I would do it on you own sim card instead of this freebie.

how to unlock the samsung T409:
1-Put the non T-Mobile SIM card in the phone.
2- Turn on the phone, "wrong sim" should appear on the screen.
3-Dial *2767*3855# and wait. The phone will reboot, and the non T-Mobile SIM card in the phone will work, but this is only a temporary unlock step
4-Dial *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#.The phone will say it is personalized.
5-Dial #7465625*638*00000000# .The phone is now unlocked permanently.

1, Do I need that t-mobile router for WIFI?
As far as I know, as long as you don't have some oddball router, it will work with any WIFI signals. I have signed on to various different WIFI signals around the city and at home without much effort, on the samsung a simple quick connect does the trick for most unsecured networks, and for the secured network make sure you have the WEP/WPA whatever password to the router.

2, Hows the battery life on these things, will wifi kill the battery quickly?
As a test, I leave my phone's wifi on all day on July 4th and make at least 2 hours of calls from the Samsung T409, its still got 2 bars this morning. I'd say its decent.

Can I add services to this plan, I am willing to pay.
    No.

Just a quick summary about the free plan as there seems to be confusion what we have got.

    Unconfirmed Rumors:
1, The employee plans are unmetered, so you can abuse all you want.
2, They don't have your billing info, so go ahead and blast away next june-july.

I was also told this morning by a CSR that it truly is unmetered. She even said I could download ringtones and such as long as i didn't go crazy. If it did become an issue T-Mobile would call. She said they were monitoring the usage on these lines, but I find it hard to believe they are really monitoring over 1000 lines.

Free Wifi Hotspot calls (those who claimed that its taking out from regular buckets probably didn't setup their phone/router properly, try making your calls from starbucks instead)
I've been told by three seperate Special Account Care reps that all WiFi calls do indeed come out of our normal 2,000 buckets of minutes. I posted a screenshot of my minute usage below, mind you, all my WiFi calls were made using the T-Mobile Linksys router that a tech support rep helped me set up.

Once I make it to a Starbuck tomorrow or Saturday I'll check then double check to see if the wifi calls at Starbucks are free/unlimited. I'll report back my findings once my testing is done.

^^^ Notice the area circled in red. Those calls were UMA, notice the (U) and they were debited out of my 2,000 bucket of minutes except for the UMA call I made to Special Account Care and one of the 800 numbers which was a call to normal Customer Service (611).

Also note my bucket breakdown at the top of the screenshot. We do get 200 Picture Messages. BTW, what is that "First Free Incoming Minute" deal? Mine says "-3 Remaining", LOL! Does anyone else see that on their account?

BTW, ilovelesbians, thanks so much for posting the info on unlocking the Samsung. I'm not going to unlock my phone now but I'm sure someone will benefit from it.

I was told by the rep I spoke with today that this is a glitch in the system and they are working on it.

thats odd because i am getting over 300 min discreprency between my phone minute counter and my.tmobile, either there is a glitch registering my minutes or i am getting hotspot @home minutes for free like i should.

i am really liking the wifi calling thing, lets me call from places with no reception at all.

They do have your address. Go to your profile in my-tmobile after you log in with the UMA phone number. You will see that Michelle thing, then click the 3rd tab, and your address is there since they need it just in case u call 911 while using the UMA service on wi-fi.

I was clicking around the billing area and noticed that they even have a credit card set up for autopay on this account.

    Credit card number: ************4289
    Expiration date: 09/2009

I'd suppose if we go nuts and start abusing the plan thats the card that will be charged.

    Billing > Make a payment ( ) > easy pay

    SELECT YOUR PAYMENT OPTIONS

You are set up to make regular automatic payments of your T-Mobile bill through EasyPay. EasyPay funds will be drawn from:

    credit card: xxxxx
    expiration date: xxxxx

Billing info comes up as Michelle, must be her corporate card.

Just looking at the screenshot reveals what I said all along, the unlimited add-on is not included. If it were, you would see a seperate bucket just for the unlimited wifi calls. Now I wish I got out and won a free year, not that I need it, but sounds interesting. I really thought it would be jammed to get in and overly complicated with SSN and credit info, and I didn't want to be bothered. Now I wish I knew how easy it was, lol

Again congrats everyone, I wish I took part in the fun.

I just send a MMS and it showed up afterwards.
Before I send the message, no where did it indicated I have 200 MMS.

Notice toward the top of my minute break down? Notice that there's a bucket called "First Free Incoming Minute"? Notice the 200 Picture Messages bucket? There are things on our account that we weren't made aware of. And there are also things on our accout that were "supposed to be there"-- the unlimited [email protected] service/add-on that we were told was part of our plan but are missing. Meh...

I've found a way around it anyway so I don't have to rely on unlimited [email protected] to replace my landline and my VoIP line. So I'm still happy as a clam about the sweepstakes. Yes, MK, it was easy as pie. All you had to do was show up in a bathrobe and stand on line in the middle of midtown Manhattan at the height of the morning rush and have passerbys staring at you like you're a homeless person sleeping on the streets in a bathrobe.

But, hey, it was worth it and I'm happy I won. THANKS T-MOBILE!

I'm glad it worked out and yeah the wording was unclear and should have clarified it. Nice on the FIM Free option, I want that! And yeah sounds easy and fun, I wish I did and got to meet some of the Hofo people in line lol
