I just realized the Duracell product does not support the iPhone, so never mind on that. Unless you're after a not-so-portable solution: http://www.duracellpower.com/electro...obile-100.aspx is more like a big battery that you can charge things off of.

I picked up this battery pack from MyBat (comes in black or white). It was the most mAh for the least money (3200 mAh / $37) I could find. Charges the iPhone 3G pretty close to 2 times (I've never emptied it yet), re-charges at the same time as the iPhone (in series) and is smaller than the iPhone. The instructions that come with it are one of the best examples of badly translated text I've ever seen, so it has real entertainment value too.

I checked the richard solo's battery. it looks good. The only problem is the capacity. its capacity is only 1100mAh. 3G iphone's battery is suck, only last 2 hours now. I need a battery can help me to boost at least 3-4 times when I travel. Even 3300mAh is not enough. The one I purchased from www.imaxpower.com TY460 had a juice of 4600mAh, i tested it and it is very powerful. Although it comes with a cable, which i don't like, but at least its capacity is large. This guy also had TY800 which is 8000mAh, holy cow, it is really huge, I tried to find the purchase link, somehow cannot find it. I will contact the owner to get one

When is "soon?" The closest thing to an announcement I could find on their site was the drawing date for their "win a Mophie for iPhone 3G" contest which is Sep 1.

I bought two of the RichardSolo's, and everything is fine except it does not charge the iphone when both the external battery and the Iphone are connected. If you charge the external and then connect it to the "3G Iphone" it will charge it up, but if you let the Iphone lose it's charge, and then connect both at the same time, the Iphone does not charge up. I bought two and both do the same thing.
Please help me if I am doing something wrong.
    Thanks
    Darrell

Here's one for the original iPhone that's like the Mophie with a combo battery/cradle plus flashlight/camera light. It's called the iV and it's made by FastMac and has a narrowed base so that it can charge the iPhone and cradle/battery from the dock.

    http://fastmac.com/iv.php#1

Although it's not as attractive as the Mophie, I think I would go with the FastMac iV since it has longer batter life spec's for the original iPhone than the Mophie such as 10.5 hrs of video vs 7 for the Mophie, 20 hrs of talk time vs 8 for the Mophie and this is comparing original iPhone spec's not the Mophie's 3G product.

I haven't seen that FastMac iV has a 3G product out yet but this would be a reason to encourage me to get a 3G iPhone since the short battery life is the only thing holding me back from upgrading from the original iPhone. These external battery cases from Mophie and FastMac look like nice solutions to the lack of a swappable battery.

Here's a youtube video I just found from MacWorld 08.

Here's another one I found called the iPowerJacket.

    http://www.ipowerjacket.com/Home_Page.php

It looks more stylish than the Mophis or FastMac iV but there's not much info on the website.

    Here's a youtube of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhlW-...eature=related

I keep this one in my briefcase all the time, takes 4 AA batteries so not economical for use on a daily basis. But in a pinch, you can always find batteries anywhere. My buddy got the richardsolo one, forgot to charge it before a long flight and have expensive paperweight. Great for camping or if your away from power for a while. It's $15 shipped, got mine in 1 day.

The guy who started Sharper Image, this is his product/company.
I just ordered this. It's back ordered due to a spike in recent sales due to mentions on sites such as Mobility Today and Palm Adicts. So they're shipping in late August. I bought 2 (one for my wife who travels a lot) so I got 15% off each.
