It will have to be updated, as most of So-Cal (populated/urban areas) have 3G, but very cool.

Yea i know, i'll keep an eye out for any changes. If people can let me know of any areas 3G was fired up in recently, i'll look for them on the map once it gets updated and add them.Originally Posted by formercanuck
It's dead on for NorCal! Look for AT&T's affiliate, Edge Wireless to turn up their 3G soon (they serve NorCal, S OR, SE ID and W WY) though, probably before AT&T gets theirs past SF or Sac!

You should do a comparison with Verizon's EVDO, it makes that look even sadder, and downright morbid for NorCal. By the first part of next year, ALL of Verizon's markets will have EVDO, what is AT&T's schedule, next century?![]()
Nice!!!!!!
There are a couple of non-3G coverage errors for my area (Mendocino County, NorCal), there is now coverage in the towns of Mendocino and Point Arena via AT&T's Affiliate, Edge Wireless, otherwise it's correct.
Thanks for the maps by the way!
Nice, too bad it isn't in more places though, I live about 30 miles south of Fresno and whenever I take a trip up there, BOOM 5 bars 3G. I just can't believe the awesome speeds that my phone can handle plus, in Fresno, the coverage is excellent.
Cool, I live in Redwood Valley, it's 8 miles north of Ukiah. We're served by AT&T Affiliate, Edge Wireless, who is testing and deploying 3G as we speak, but currently the only HDSPA/UMTS I see is when in Sac or SF. I hope to see some more next month though, I am taking the train to L.A. (Amtrak Thruway Bus to Martinez, San Joaquin to Bakersfied, Amtrak Thruway bus to L.A.) to meet my parents, who will already be there on vacation, I'll wave on the way though :-)
Edit-Verizon is turning their EVDO on up here by the end of the year, I hear rumors of October. I really hope AT&T will let me use Edge's 3G here, I don't see why not, they are an AT&T Affiliate (AT&T has a 40% interest in them, 60% is privately held), and roaming on them with my AT&T phones is seamless. I have an interview for Assistant Conductor with Amtrak next Wed in Oakland, they're hiring 8 in Oakland and 2 in Sac this go session, so my 3G coverage may change very soon, I hope!
That is pretty sad, no wonder they only allow 3G viewing at the city level!
LOL! ...and this is all the 3G work they've done since 2004 (AT&T Wireless)? That's almost 3 years and still they have a virtually non-existent network. It hardly looks like 160 markets like they claimed on paper.
Yeah, if you have very few colors GIF can do a better job than JPG because GIF compresses based on color tone regardless of the pixel count. But when you have many colors, JPG and PNG are a lot better at compression. I always wanted to do a map like this but I realized it just takes too much time and I don't have the time. Anyway, awesome job! Thanks!Originally Posted by zephxiii

I agree.. it is out of date though (i.e. So-Cal has much more coverage than shown), and you can actually view 3G at the state level (i.e. put in a state, after its up, select 3G).Originally Posted by petard
I like having a nice fullsize map of coverage though, vs. the 'window'.
