well i understand what you are saying mark_venture, but
then if you think you have that much of a hassle to
use this phone with old features.... why waste your money on it?

I'm not wasting my money on this phone... its being sent to my for FREE from the VCC... So, I'm looking into what this phone is capable of, and what I'll be up against when it arrives...

Also, some people like having a "weekend phone" or "special occasion phone" and being able to easily switch which phone is active on their account quickly via the web site... Most/All recent phones have allowed for this, many newer verizon users may not know of the Tools restrictions, so many may overlook the limits having the U470 may bring...

So I thought I'd share with them before THEY "waste" their money on this phone... I hope that is ok with you.

I was kinda hyper with saving $410 and looked at the positives
and kinda frowned at the negatives which I didn't want to hear

the VCC "Verizon Customer Council"

some HOFO members (me included) got invitations in the summer of 2006 to join a customer council, to provide feedback to vzw on features , services, phones etc.

it was invitation only, we started discussing it, and it created quite a stir here on HOFO untill the mods locked the thread, and it became a forbidden topic, there were some irate members who ( for various reasons ) thought they should have been invited. something that those invited had NO control over.

That's pretty neat for sure. Too bad I sorta got out of the vzw area around that time... does anyone remember www.brewbackups.com (a site myself and few others helped) I know verizons lawyers sure knew about it

Hearing rumors that if you pre-order the phone ships the day it comes out, standard overnight.

i got to play with one for about 15 min today.

the interface is smooth and responsive, the phone was not activated but i dont think texting will be that bad on it, the buttons are slightly larger than the env's internal keyboard. the flip portion is solid with very little play in it. the scroll wheel moves very smooth and is not a pain.


i tried to get you a video but my fiancee's env would not focus on the screen very well

i saw 3 of them (each color) at a circuit city near where i live, in leominster, MA. but three punk kids were hogging all the time with them and i didn't get a chance to play with them. in fact, they could have actually just been dummy phones. the sales rep handed them to the kids. they weren't hooked up to anything. all i saw them doing with them is repeatedly flipping them open and closed.

I'll have mine tomorrow and I'll activate it.
I probably won't be able to answer many questions about it until after 7pm CST because I'll be at work (I will have it with me at work though). I won't be able to do any hacking attempts at work (though I suppose there isn't much hacking to do except for ringtones )
