finally, i got the real answers to the a530

they had some probelms with the ota activation.... something to do with the prl... thats why people had a hard time trying to activate it. now it doesnt end there.... this phone is just as good as the lg... but verizon did not want a repeat of the t720... they wanted tis phone to be TOTALLy bug free... so smasung and verizon were debating either to release the phone and provide a update in the near future or just ship it back to samsung to "fix" the LITTLE BUGS.... there wasnt one big bug that made this phone not function correctly... its like he t720, a couple small bugs(even though it isnt as bad as the t720.. you know what.. the t720 had MULTIPLE BIG BUGS... **** THAT PHONE WTH A PASSION) there was a phone book issue, backlight issue, and a couple other i cant name remember right now. this phone is slated for may 1st release, either that or the stores will be getting in it on may 1st, and will sell it a week later about may 8th... there was no huge flaw.... there was no "discontinue" of this phone... i ealrier posted on hofo that it is gagin related... that was just a myth as well... just a couple small bugs, that verizon didnt want to deal with with ppl coming back, like they did with the t720, so they are waiting untill its is 99% bug free... i mean i have 2 of the phones right now, and they work great... reception is excellent, just the ringtones are kinda low... but not too much... just as loud as the lg with 05 software... the lg with 04 was the loudest..

    Thanks for the info.

About the ringtones... Can it do Ring+Vibrate at the same time? If so, count me in. Are the ringtones louder than the T720s?

The LG with 04 had decently loud ones, I never heard it with 05.

yes it does ring and vibrate at same time....... For me the rings have always been loud enuff, actually i have my volume set at 3 when the max is 5....the vibrate is definitly enuff so that if it is in your side pocket you'll feel it.

    Let's wait and see...

For those that already have the phone, can u post the software and hardware version of the A530 for us please?

That way we'll be able to do a S/W & H/W version comparison when the phone officially releases.

    Thanks.

To Vyruz- Though I appreciate all your help and expertise, could you please improve on your spelling and grammar?

Bad grammar and spelling makes an otherwise simple paragraph hard to understand, at least to me.

Needless to say, thanks again for all the "scoop"

    LOL!

One thing that I like about this forum is the sense of humor and good sport that people have.

OK, I have to admit it.... I'm slowly beginning to like the A530. That's one thing that drives me crazy about the T720: It's ringer says "Vibe&Ring" and yet it Vibrates, and THEN Rings.

I understand what you're saying about Spelling & Grammar, but I also have a couple of dyslexic friends that love posting and have trouble making complete sense when doing so. I have no idea if Vyruz falls into that category, has poor spelling and grammar skills, or just rushes when writing posts, but I've learned not to turn into the "grammar police" on forums b/c of the experiences my friends have had. Just something to keep in mind.

You're right, the majority of people on HoFo have a great sense of humor, and yet are still capable of carrying out a civilized debate. Long live HoFo!!

Last I checked this was not the English 101 forum. I must disagree with vyruz statement that the a530 is as good as the 4400. There is no way to tell at this point as it failed its launch due to bugs and programming problems. In my book, that makes it much worse than the 4400 at this point. The 4400 has proven itself in the hands of many users while the a530 gathers dust.

I havent re charged the extended battery yet.. THis is what I do, The reg battery (even with talking alot on it) usually lasts me about 48 hours, Being on all the time, sometimes a little less sometimes more... Well I have the extended battery in my backpack, and if the reg battery runs out i just slap the extended one on UNTILL the reg battery is fully charged and ready to go back on the phone, then i take the extended battery off and put it away till the next time i need it, so far its on 2 bars and its been 9 days since i charged it. I dont know how long it would last if i kept it on 24/7 id guess sumwhere at 3-4 days

"How does the extended battery on the a530 hold up? Pretty good?"

My extended battery lasted 7 days on its first charge. I used the phone for about 30 minutes per day (Average). This is excellent IMHO. The thing just would not die. I also did alot of playing around in the menus, mobile web, etc. and it still lasted from Wed. of last week till Wed. of this week. Very impressive!

In that case the a530 is a pretty good deal (assuming $150 with rebate) since it comes with a great extended battery plus leather case and car charger. Sounds like you guys are gonna hang on to this phone?

    Last couple of questions:
    - Does the phone sport a wake-up alarm?

    - Does it have a RING+VIBRATE mode? Or at least a VIBRATE then RING mode as in some phones.
