Phone shut off - I couldn't turn it on via traditional ways, so I decided to press and hold both buttons for a bit.

Apple logo came up....2 minutes.... activation screen came back "Slide to Unlock"...

Ok...so what I've noticed so far...

    - Voicemail indicator works fine...(contrary to some reports)
    - Summerboard does not work
    - Locate doesn't work (for obvious reasons)
    - YouTube doesn't work

So, so far, not so hot. I'm going to continue w/ the IPSF though...

Just noting that I read that someone did it that way and he had problems.

There is an easy fix for youtube, and the new baseband fixes locate me.

When you say summerboard doesn't work I assume you mean the program, right? The springboard is working fine?

    Please clarify.

Did "that" what way? If you want anyone to hear your input you need to be more specific.

Correct - Summerboard, the program that skins your iPhone does not work

I dont use summerboard, but I think it is compatible with 1.1.3 but requires a different "version".

Also, I noticed when I run TERM - it asks me for a password now. Both 'alpine' and 'dottie' do not work

"that way" = restoring a backup of the data, instead of a sync......

There is a fix for that I heard on hackintosh. Suid password fix, but I dont know the source. I can't search now (on my iPhone) but will find it if you haven't already in about 2 hours.

    I did a sync, not a restore...

I also managed to fix my VT-TERM100 issue...alpine works, and I used 'passwd' to change my password.

Running TERM still prompts me for a password though, I am going to assume this is a new design 'feature'

Ok, before I do the IPSF unlock, is there a new version of it? The version I have is the one from his blog.

    Term-vt100
After upgrading to 1.1.3, you may have noticed Term-vt100 no longer allows to login, it keeps asking for user and pass (5 attempts then die). This is because the /usr/bin/login needs to be SUID root but Installer didn’t set it.

If you still have SSH access, take the following steps to fix it:

    chmod 4755 /usr/bin/login
    mkdir -p /usr/local/arm-apple-darwin/lib
    ln -s /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib /usr/local/arm-apple-darwin/lib/.

After the fix, when Term-vt100 asking for password, simply enter your root password (default to alpine) to login.

If you are totally locked out and have no way to remote login, you still have iPHUC as a last resort, read on…

    Can’t Login ?
I had experienced difficulties login to iPhone. My SSH was not working and Term-vt100 can’t login either because the /usr/bin/login was not SUID root. I used the following method to fix it:

    1. Get the master.passwd with iPHUC:

    setafc com.apple.afc2
    cd /etc
    getfile master.passwd master.passwd
    exit

    2. Now edit the master.passwd file, change the mobile UID and GID to 0 (was 501) as shown below:

    mobile:/smx7MYTQIi2M:0:0::0:0:Mobile User:/var/mobile:/bin/sh

    3. Put the modified master.passwd back onto iPhone using iPHUC:

    setafc com.apple.afc2
    cd /etc
    putfile master.passwd
    exit

    4. Reboot iPhone, start Term-vt100 (it should work now), enter the following commands:

    chmod 4755 /usr/bin/login
    mkdir -p /usr/local/arm-apple-darwin/lib
    ln -s /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib /usr/local/arm-apple-darwin/lib/.

    5. Revert master.passwd back to the original (mobile UID and GID set to 501) as shown below:

    mobile:/smx7MYTQIi2M:501:501::0:0:Mobile User:/var/mobile:/bin/sh
and put it back onto iPhone (in /etc) using iPHUC (as introduced above) and reboot.

Now in Term-vt100, use the root password (it’s alpine if unchanged) to login.
