Has anyone received a pin to their BB device stating that BB Mail Connector is no longer available and other options are available from RIM? How will Fido BB Connect now work with a BB device if BB Mail Connector is no longer available? Any suggestions... THX!

No idea. But there is a rumour BB connect is being killed off on Fido anyways. Rogers already killled theirs.

Is the BB Mail connector the feature that allows for PIN to PIN messaging?

No it is not used for PIN to PIN ...

    BlackBerry Mail Connector.
This is a special software program included on a CD included with BlackBerries, that you can install on your computer. You can run it on a home computer or office computer -- just leave the computer on 24 hours a day. The software will watch for new emails arriving in Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes and then automatically forward a copy of these emails to your BlackBerry. (No BES needed). But you must keep your computer running 24 hours a day to get copies of your email. This method allows relatively tight integration including mail read status, deletes and SENT mail (mail sent on the Blackberry will show up in your SENT Box.

I'm pretty sure the new software is Blackberry Desktop Redirector.

Does the same thing pretty much, just called differently.

Oh well, i already leave my computer on 24 7 anyway, but i'll miss wireless synchronization

    thanks for the help guys!

Will Fido be required to 'honour' existing BB Connect customers' contracts? Or, as it is an added feature (VP or otherwise), can they just come along one month and kill my BB Connect?

My poor old E61 is going to go the way of the dodo bird soon, then. Maybe it's time to start the hunt for a thumb-board phone w/ BB, GPS, wifi, and a camera. Don't think it exists yet, tho!

I have used PIN to PIN messaging when I was using my BB 8320 and worked just fine with Fido's BB Connect. I can't do that now because I have switched to the Nokia E51, but with a compatible device it will work.

from what i'm told, BB connect is basically full BIS including browser, pin, email, etc.

If its used on the E62, then it just gives you realtime email and no pinning.

It's basically a retentions value pack that combines the $25.00 3mb BB Connect feature with the $14.00 value pack (100 sms, enhanced VM, CID, Name Display, WhoCalled) to make it the $30.00 BB Value pack. This value pack was not made generally available, but was only able to get it from retentions. It's an excellent value for me that I hope to keep for a good time to come.
