Application Tip: when playing games like super monkey ball, or bomberman, or any other app, and you don't want to end the game, but you dont want to leave it on to kill ur battery? just press the sleep button. no because the first 5 apps i downloaded from the phone are in the applications tab in itunes but after that only the ones i downloaded form itunes are in the tab.

The only thing I can figure is that the Applications part of iTunes contains apps that you downloaded from the apps store VIA iTunes. Apps that you download via the iPhone are not listed there (in my case), but should be in the backup of the phone in case of a restore.

doesnt it kill the app and return home after X amount of minutes - I kinda noticed that if I leave my phone alone for a while and it was on an app it switches back to the home screen?

I get "your computer is not authorized" when trying to sync apps. Funny because that's the only iTunes I've used with this iPhone.

iphone/itunes sees apps as things bought (even if they are free) you have to right click on your phone with in itunes and click on transfer purchases, after which it'll download the apps that you’ve bought on your iphone to itunes. Then you can create a back up point at that time for future restores your self (again right clicking on your phone) or just wait till the next time it does an auto backup

in the iTunes menu, click STORE --> Activate This Computer.

Be careful, if you ever answer no, you many not be able to go back. I did this on my Touch and am pissed I can't find an undo. The work around is athe sync programs in the File menu.

1. When using the keyboard in QWERTY and want to easily enter a .?123 just press and hold the .?123, drag to the character and let go. This also brings you right back to the QWERTY keyboard.

2. Same as above works with the shift button and QWERTY. Press and hold shift as you drag to a letter, this capitalizes each letter selected. (Dragging and releasing makes typing so much easier for my fat fingers)

3. Press and holding a letter on the keyboard allows for the selection of its character accents i.e. press and hold the c button

The fact that the iPhone 3G won't be able to do MMS either started to frustrate me. So I decided to try and find a way around the fact that I can't send or receive MMS messages on my iPhone. I did some research and came across a fairly simple technique that you can use to send people (who already have MMS on their phone) MMS messages. I am aware that you can hack the iPhone and install applications like swirlymms, etc to enable MMS on the iPhone, but this technique requires no hacking.

Most of you probably already know about this technique, but I decided to create this thread to introduce this technique to those who may not have come across it yet

In summary, this technique uses the iPhone's ability to email pictures. You basically email a picture to your friend's phone number and they receive it as an MMS message.

So heres how to do this:

First take a picture of wut you want to send. If you already have a picture in the iPhone, then simply go to that picture by locating it in the iPhone's camera role.

When you are at the picture, press the button in the bottom left of the screen (the one that looks like a square with an arrow pointing out of it). This will insert the picture into an email on the iPhone.

In the "TO" field of the email message, you need to enter the person's 10 digit phone number (their number including area code). The phone number should be followed by the standard prefix for their carrier. For example, for people with ATT, the prefix is [email protected]. If you do not know what carrier your friend is using, you can use the prefix [email protected] and it will automatically figure out what carrier they are using and send the MMS to them correctly.

When you have finished typing their number followed by the correct prefix in the "TO" field of the email message, then you can simply press send and it will send the message as an MMS to their phone.


A few things to note:
When you send an MMS to someone this way, they can't simply reply back to the MMS message because it wont have come from your phone number, it came from your email remember. If they want to respond to an MMS that you sent them, they should reply to your email so you will get the response in the form on an email instantly on your iPhone and it will even vibrate ur iPhone when you get the email response. Or they can reply by simply sending you a text message. In other words, they can't jusy simple reply to the MMS that you sent them because you wont get their response, they have to either email or text your phone number to respond to you. I never said this technique was perfect, but it will work for me for now until (if) MMS gets added to the iPhone.

If someone has MMS on their phone and wants to send you a picture, they can't because the iPhone doesnt support MMS. Instead, they should just email you the picture because you will instantly get the email on your iPhone and your iPhone will even alert you when you get the email.
