Ok, see page 5 of the thread I posted above to get EVDO working on your storm. The OP hasn't updated the first post yet, so we put it on page 5.

do it at your own risk as you need to use QPST to make the changes.

PAGE 1: How to get your phone and everything but EVDO working on Alltel's system
PAGE 5: How to use QPST to modify the hard coded settings to authenticate EVDO

    Then rejoice.

EDIT: Here's the thread since it page jumped.

So, the obvious question now is could this be done the same way on Sprint's network, assuming you know all of the pertinent information about Sprint's network.

    Red face Check Settings

EVDO uses a HDR username and password. The username is [email protected] and the password is your Hex ESN. 1x data is the same username, but alltel as the password. Verfiy these settings are correct.

If there not your BlackBerry will continue to revert back to 1x from EV data.

Mark, since this is referring to a Storm it would be [email protected] as they have a different username

This is good news. I have a couple of questions though. How likely is it to find a rep willing to activate the storm on Alltel? I imagine doing and online esn swap from my pearl would not work. Will something need to be tweaked again when I do end up with Verizon? And lastly.... Is the best place to get the phone at Verizon itself?

#1. I just called up CS and said it was my replacement Blackberry, and it was already programmed. So once they did the change I did a fast out/in call test and was done.

#2. Unless you change to a VZN plan you shouldn't have to change w/ VZN (settings) until you change to their BB plan I would think.

Since I just locked myself into a 2yr contract to keep my current plan I'll probably be changing phones in a year anyways cause thats what I do...lol.

MMS works fine for me. I've been sending receiving pics to my wifes phone (both her old one, and the new one she got the other day) without a problem since the moment I activated it.

I had a storm 1 on alltel for the longest time with everything working. As long as you can get "alltel" to activate it and you can change prls and change the network settings etc i dont see why any blackberry wouldn't work. Just use settings from your previous blackberry on to that one. The problem i ran into with a verizon pearl my wife had was once it was used on alltel it became an "alltel" phone and they didn't want to activate it back on Verizon. Doesn't make any sense..
