    I was offline for a week (moving).
    My setting is as "Blaxx" suggested, however it's not a big deal and it does not impact my battery consumption, the only annoying factor in connecting and disconnecting to WLAN, is the sound it makes when connecting so frequently to my home network, on & off !
    (I don't have any programs running in the background)
    Love my gray E71-2 (FW 500.21.9) !

    this solved my problem.

    I was always wondering why the WLAN indicator on home screen was on even though I set the WLAN scanning to 'OFF'. Hope this will improve battery life. I normally get 2 days on the battery before I had to recharge.
