my S10 is a G9730, the Hong Kong variant. I got this one because it's a dual SIM w/Snapdragon 855 so I can use a Google-Fi sim in the other slot for int'l travel & better data roaming. This one slips by their IMEI checks apparently.

The only problem with it is it's missing some of the newer T-Mobile bands like 66, 71 etc.

I am kicking myself for not switching to the 55+ plan. they've messed that up now by adding taxes & fees on to it.

Are there any brands in general that work on t-zones? Motorola? Huawei?

I know Apple pretty much always work.

All Huawei phones working great with tzone, iPhones appear work well as well.
Most Motorola phones are banned for tzone.

I added this data line and used it on a spare phone to use as a hot spot. Before I left the US, I talked to CS and I was told that I will only get 2G speed. I didn't believe at first but when I got to Budapest it was really just 2G speed. Painful! Does that sound right to you? CS told me if I want faster speed I need to get a data pass or switch plans and upgrade to faster data.

Yes, the free international travel is limited to 2G speed (technically by T-Mobile), except Mexico/Canada (up to 5GB data at 4G LTE)..
But many countries' carriers were not able to limit the speed per T-Mobile settings.
I traveled to Peru in the March, I got full LTE speed all the time, as well in Iceland on some carrier.
Anyway , free roaming on 2G is better than nothing.
It is enough to use navigation, text/email .
    No pictures/videos..

You're right. Texting, navigation and Uber worked so I can't really complain. For what I'm paying at least I have something working. I'm hoping I can get faster speed in the Philippines!!
