LTE phone for less than $100?

Received my Pantech. Transferred my SIM to a micro SIM. I am able to make phone calls. The mobile network is changing between 4G LTE, 4G, and E from time to time.

But connection is not stable. Not sure what I am missing. epc.tmobile.com is pushed to my phone automatically. I tried fast.tmobile.com but no difference.

    The jury is still out.

Is that that pantech burst unlocked from eBay? I was looking at a couple of those phones for a family who is moving from crappy sprint phones to tmobile uncarrier. The LTE APN is fast.t-mobile.com. Maybe that helps! Ps where are you located with LTE and reframed 1900?

@ below20, 3 questions: 1. which data plan do you have? Tzones?, 2. Is that the pantech P9070? 3. Is there any native tethering programs in there?
Thanks for the BLU Quattro tip, and now taking one for the team with this! Oh, and yes, you missed the "hyphen" in the fast.t-mobile.com apn, don't know if that makes a difference. re: question below

RE: tzones after uncarrier: yes, I've blown past 10gb tethering, got the 2.99 tz, useragent, no upsell, HD2 with some really old rom, don't want to change roms or phones because of this.
RE: 100mb tethering cap on my.t-mobile: all my lines have the 2.99 tz, all with msisdn reused numbers with new 2yr contract. the 100mb appeared on one of my lines 2 days ago, and appeared on my line yesterday, I finished watching a netflix with a different useragent, and tmobile shows i've only used 3mb tethering. anyways, regarding the 100mb, I think it has always been there, just not explicitly quoted. In the past, whenever I'm helping a friend with a new computer, I can turn on wifi tether on my HD2 and download a few hundred megs of updates before I see the upsell page, so this is nothing new. But with this 100 explicitly stated, I'll make sure to use it wisely and download the useragent first before I go wild.

I think that it depends on your location of refarming 1900 mhz.

I have the same problem with iPhone 4 that keeps change from 3G to E to no signal. I am in LA/OC area and I believe they are still working on the LTE tower signal. I was thinking of getting a Pantech Burst as well just to see if I can get LTE signal in LA/OC area.

Yes, it is a Pantech Burst P9070 and I am using $5.99 T-Zones.

The phone seems to support Tethering using Wi-Fi hotspot as well as Bluetooth. But I have not tried either because the internet is too unstable. The longest it will last is about a few minutes. Using mobile data alone, I was able to update Youtube (~6MB) from Play Store. But before it launches, the connectivity is gone.

The connectivity was definitely unstable with epc.tmobile.com. I cannot even get Edge to work consistently. I also don't see any option to stay in 2G.

I have changed the APN to fast.t-mobile.com and let's see how it goes. I used to follow the following instruction which suggested fast.tmobile.com

    http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1979

^ thanks, my finger is really itching to click buy-it-now on this, but but....

i'm in a fully refarmed area, don't have any lte phones yet, and my backup att phone sees 1900 hspa+ but is just as flaky as what below20 is describing above, so I don't think it'll work with the pantech either.

edit: somebody on the LTE thread just said all ATT LTE phones have 1700/2100, but my google-fu is weak, I can't find any specs saying the pantech burst has 2100. I know most websites abreviate AWS LTE band 4 to just 1700, omitting the 2100 even if it's there... don't know if this is also true for the pantech.

fast.t-mobile.com is the bomb! My internet has been solid ever since I changed it. Watched multiple Youtube video without issue.

They have the Sony Xperia Ion LT28i for 295.00 on EBay. It supports HSPA+ on the AWS and 1900 band, but it's +21 and not +42. It also works on LTE. I was looking at this phone phone last summer but it was around 550 to 600. It takes about a year for a phone to drop in price.

Much better than their ridiculously priced phone even with their 2-years contract renewal "discount".

Super AMOLED display, ICS 4.0.4 w/ unofficial CM10, 1.5GHz dual-core, dual camera, 1GB RAM, 16GB flash, micro SD slot. Not bad at all.

Not a T-zones user, just randomly visiting this thread, but has anyone tried the Motorola Atrix HD from AT&T? It has AWS HSPA+ and LTE. Unlike the Sony Ion, AWS HSPA works out of the box. Got mine used for under 200 on eBay.
Carriers I've used: Sprint, T-Mobile, Cricket, AT&T, Verizon, Page Plus, Virgin Mobile, Movistar, AT&T Mexico, Telcel, Straight Talk, RingPlus.
Phones I've used: iPhone 6S, iPhone 5c, HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S3, LG G2, BlackBerry Storm, Nokia 820, Motorola Atrix HD, iPhone 4S, HTC One V, iPhone 4, Nokia Lumia 900, Nokia N9, Samsung Focus, Samsung Captivate, Nokia N900, HTC 8525, iPhone 3GS, iPhone, Nokia E61i, Siemens A56...

    Hi,

Will the T-Zones data plan work with the T-Mobile iPhone 5 that is bought through T-Mobile or bought through the Apple store? Thanks!

I have an unlocked and lte-patched iphone 5 on t-zones. Got the LTE last week in my area.

I used to have 3G and Edge indicators, The 3g maxed out around 12mb down, edge was obviously slow as balls.

Since LTE patch I seem to have '4G' showing in a lot of areas where I used to have 3G and my new '4G' (what is that really indicating?) does about .5mb up and .5 down instead of the 8-12 I was used to. But wherever I get LTE, which seems to be a little more than half the DC metro area, it flies. My max was 29 down/21 up.

Not sure if I've crossed 5gb yet but I have used a ton of data testing things out, tethering, and downloading about 800mb of video podcasts a day. Apple's 'Personal Hotspot' feature used to work on its own but since the LTE patch that led me to a t-mobile landing page asking me to add tethering. I installed mywi instead.

Tethering seems to cap out around 20mb down. I tried several devices when phone was getting 26-27 down. Might be some limitation in the device or just a noisy wifi environment. Either way so far my t-zone and iphone experience has been great.

One caveat, on my t-mobile account my device switched from "Unknown Device" to "Apple iPhone 5". Damn. They found me

A bit of bad news from my Pantech Burst. I try to test tethering today. Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth internet sharing give me the error:

"there is a temporary network problem that prevents the enablement of the Mobile Hotspot function"

Looks like I need permission from AT&T to tether on T-Mobile.
