Samsung Omnia i910, WAP, MMS (in and out), and GPS CONFIRMED

    Hello to all,

I did not do this on my own or take any credit for the full working Omnia. It was a hard working group that finally figured it out and helped us all...

I just wanted to make a full guide of everything put together..

    Things you will need:

    Samsung PST
    i910 dll
(This you will find on your own around the forums or google them)

Assuming you already have the top installed and fully working let's begin...

    WAP

    1. Go To--Settings--System--Data Connection
    2. Choose As the modem through USB
3.Connect phone to USB port in computer
    4. Run samsung PST and select the i910 dll...
    5. The phone should be detected in one of the coms (if not disconnect form USB port and connect again)
    6. Follow the steps below as listed step by step they are crucial...

Go to the Settings button on Samung PST
    Check the 1X/EVDO DATA Parameter
After there is a check mark on it click on the button that says (Read From Phone)

Choose the tab that says: MIP Mode and change it to : Simple MIP

Change MIP NAI to: [email protected]

    Change DATA_PKT_ORIG_STR to: #777

Change SIP NAI to: [email protected]

Change SIP RM NAI to: [email protected]

After you changed this recheck them and make sure that they are right.

Then click where it says (Write to Phone)
(It should take about 30 seconds and then soft reset the phone meaning turn it off and on again)

    On the Phone:

    Go to Settings--Connections--Connections

Go to : Manage existing connections and erase any connections you have.

Go to the advanced tab on the left hand corner next to Tasks: Select Networks--choose My work Network.
Choose your ISP name (just put anything you want)
click on the modem tab-New- Next- the number to dial is #777 (Next)

    Username: [email protected]
    Password: mymetropcs
    Domain: (Leave Blank)
    Click on (Finish)

Next tab is (Proxy Settings) Click on it.
    Check the first two options...

    Proxy Server: wap.metropcs.net
    Click on (Advanced...)

    wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (http)
    wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (wap)
    wap.metropcs.net port:443 (secure wap)
    wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (socks)

Username for http, wap, secure wap: yourte[email protected]
    Password: mymetropcs

(Don't need Username or passworld for socks)

At this point you are done with WSP settings and should have fully working internet...

    MMS

MAKE SURE YOUR WEB IS WORKING PROPERLY (ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS) AS YOU CAN'T HAVE MMS WITHOUT WORKING INTERNET!!!

1: Install Arcsoft MMS version 5.0.70.24 from Verzion. (google it it's very easy to find)

2: Open your Messaging and click on the SMS/MMS option.

3: Click on "Menu" and select "MMS Options" then select the "Servers" tab.

4: Add a new server with the following settings:

    Server Name: metropcs
    Gateway: wap.metropcs.net
    Port number: 3128
    Server address: http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc
Connect via: SELECT EITHER THE CONNECTION YOU SETUP ABOVE OR "The internet"
    Send limit: 399K

5: Click "Done" and then set the new server as default.

6: Using a Registry Editor edit the following values:
(Any registry editor will do i preffer RESCO but it's up to you)

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]

    DELETE KEY -> "X-VzW-MDN"
    ADD STRING -> "X-metropcs-MDN"="XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number )
ADD STRING -> "X-DEVICE-MIN"="1XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number WITH the 1 in front of it )

You should have MMS up and running in and out!!!!!!

    GPS

In order to use any of the custom ROMs available right now for the i910 (Wozzer, Adryn, etc), you will need to flash the CC20 leaked ROM first, since they are all built off it.

You will need to install the drivers before trying to flash, otherwise UMDL will not be able to find your phone.
From XP: Install from the included verizon software CD that comes with the phone

From Vista/7: Just plug in normally (don't change activesync settings or try to use UMDL or anything). Windows will download and install the drivers automatically. (Note: After Windows downloads and installs the drivers, you will still need to disconnect your phone, turn it off, and disable the activesync USB settings before flashing!)

Make sure you are on a USB 2.0 Connection!!! If you flash on a USB1.0 or 1.1 connection, the flash has a high risk of failing and causing your phone to no longer turn on (called "Bricking" since you now have a paper weight that just cost you a couple hundred dollars!)

Ok, so now your drivers are installed, great! Go ahead and download both of these:
    UMDL Software

    Leaked i910 CC20 ROM

UMDL GUIDE (read this very important)UMDL GUIDE

    Then follow the guide:

Before you begin, make sure to download the Samsung Omnia UMDL and the Samsung i910 Firmware update on the right.

    *TIPS BEFORE STARTING*

*Backup your data and do a hard reset to avoid any mishaps.

*Make sure your phone is more than 50% charged. It does not take long to update the firmware, but if it dies in the middle of the install, it will not come back to life.

*Be careful with overheating the battery, it will cause the phone to shut off as well.

Do not plug the phone into the computer until you are told in step 7.

STEP 1: Make sure that the active sync connections on your computer is set so to *DO NOT ALLOW USB CONNECTIONS.

Step 2: In your phone settings, switch the USB connection from active sync to sync with Mass Storage. Then turn off your phone until later.

Step 3: Open the Samsung Omnia UMDL

Step 4: Select Unified Image File (*img) and search for the samsung i910 firmware (i910WM6.1.REV10.CC20.VZW.img)

Step 5: Click the detect button

Step 6: Plug in your phone while it is still turned off.

Step 7: When you plug it in, turn on the phone.

Step8: Your phone should have been detected and the firmware should be written to the disc. Wait for the blue highlight on the UMDL.

Step 9: It should be rebooting and you will need to setup windows again.

Step 10: To turn the GPS on, go to settings -> Phone -> GPS -> Change settings from 911 to location on.

Step 11: Soft reset the phone

With these steps done you should have full GPS running but do know that if you choose to get GPS you will need to redo everything for the WAP and MMS again.

I currently have WoZZeRs WM6.5 Cooked Rom with m2d
It is very good and stable.

For the Roms go to Modaco.com

Hope to have cleared up some stuff and make it as easy as possible for everyone here...

Again i do not take credit for any of the WAP MMS or GPS unlocking for the phone!!!!

Thanks and i hope it helps you guys

This is my first guide so sorry if i missed something or did something wrong i tried my best to put all the information we found into one simple guide...

Hey Omnia, I know you have been working on this just like I have. Have you found a way to get an-nai to stick to get EVDO working???

Someone said if you use google maps once, you get EVDO, but I can confirm that only works on some as it has not worked on any of mine.

O and BTW as someone who HAS already flashed, this is a godsend, you really did a wonderful job on this writeup! Congrats to you!

I see this has some mistakes, that must be corrected.
When you go to settings - connections - connections, shows up:
My ISP/ Add a new modem .... and below, Manage existing connnections.
Underneath shows My Work network and more options.
Now that we erase, shows: My ISP
    Add a new modem connection
    and
    My work network
    Add a new modem
    Add a new vpn
    Set up my proxy server.
Underneath is TASK and ADVANCED, we click on advanced, and shows another window with Select networks, depress overthere and,
    here is the problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Programs that automat.. . ...................connect to the internet using :
    My work
    My ISP and
Programs that automatically connect to a private network using :
    My work
    My ISP.
So where we have to set the new parameters ?????????????
BECAUSE IF WE HAVE INTERNET THRU METRO, WE DON'T HAVE IT THRU WIFI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please specify !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because does not work that way !!

Also, yes, is easy to find the arcsoft in the net, but, when you have it, how do you manage to install that in the phone ???? I download even youtube in my phone, but how arcsoft ??

Also, to the people that go to download the new cc20 rom, full charge the battery, if not, the phone is going to tether power from the USB; instead, when this happens, DO NOT DISCONECT YOUR PHONE !!, make a soft reset (the hole close to the pwr button) and wait for the download.
    Thank you

Pd. maybe this post was made for the smart guys of this forums, so could be nice write the tutorial for the regular guy that use and participate on this forum.

some phone apps will not use "work network" so it is better to just make new connection. deleting the default connection will also be a problem since some phones will add it back in some cases.

Why does this all sound so confusing? Is there a thread that
shows an idiot like me how to do this right the first time?
I did the flash leak and just want to get the gps to work.
